There is a new virus that is being sent as an attachment called "Happy New Year.exe". Do not open this file thinking it is from a well wisher. Many of the e-mail type viruses are not even being sent as an attachment. Microsoft Explorer used by many including AOL 5.0 can transmit a virus without an attachment! At this time the mail client in Netscape 4.7 and 4.6 offers the only protection from this problem. Several different strains of virus infect a computer, invades your mail client and forwards on the virus to person's whom you send mail. The good news is many of these pesky people who create viruses are being caught as tracing is becoming much easier. I suggest that if you want to send information, contact the person in advance of your intentions and ask if its okay? Let them know what you are sending by file name, size and time. It is also a very good idea to keep your DAT files updated every two or three weeks. The Dat files are the files used by your virus protection program to detect and clean a virus before any harm can be done. Most virus software now allows you to turn on what is called a virus shield that protects you from infected e-mail and various other areas while you are online. I can not tell you how important it is to understand how your virus software protects you. Take 10 minutes if you have not already and read up on your version of Virus protection software and how to keep it current. I'm just now getting info on that side, from Ann Applegate and Glenn Blevins. Glen sent some info that includes a Minta Belle Conley m. Henry Cantrell b.c1865 or Nov. 1866? Minta b.18 Mar. 1891 in Magoffin Co. Ky. Both burried in the Stumbo cemetary in Van Lear, Johnson Co., Ky. don't know if they're the same Minta or not but that is an unusual name. Dennis
Folks, I need to ask that no one send attachments to the list , please. That is a major no-no of Rootsweb. Thanks, Ann
I am not sure why they are attaching the Johnson county List. That part doesn't make sense to me, I deleted mine without opening the attachment, Ann
Chris, I have Tally Young that married Lonzo "Dock" Cantrell. The Nora that you have listed is Nova (everyone called her Novie). She was married to Mart Adams, which was my maternal grandfather's brother. Aunt Nova was a very tiny, short lady but was as spunky as she was small. She always wore a scarf on her head and smoked a pipe. Here is a listing of Tally and Dock's children as Aunt Nova had them written down: 1. Nova Cantrell December 01, 1909 2. Wayne Cantrell March 15, 1915 3. Viola Cantrell January 04, 1920 4. Willard Cantrell November 18, 1924 I have all of Aunt Nova and Uncle Mart's kids also, if you are interested. Ann
Hello, I am new to this list and very new to genealogy. Please forgive me if I say something silly. I am looking for the desendants of Elizabeth Woods, she married William Walters about June 1820. I think it was in Eastern Kentucky. Any help would be very appreciated. Lydia Havens Researching Havens, Mullens, Woods, and Smith. Dennis, I am curious............., My Grandmother Minta Young Cheek, had a sister Tally, who married a Dock Cantrell. He was born about 1877, and they had the following children, Nora, Wayne, Ulah, and Viola. Do any of these names sound familiar to you? I don't have much on this part of the family, but I would like to!! Hello Freddy & Season's Greetings! My gg aunt Lucy Ann Ramey married David D. Branham in Johnson County, KY Feb 26, 1855. I have not researched the Branham family as yet and would appreciate any information about that line. Lucy Ann was the daughter of John Ramey. Her mother is in question as of this writing. It was thought that Emily Stratton was her mother but deeper research has shown that Emily married John in Pike County on Mar 3, 1846. It appears that Emily first married a Stratton, then a Ramey and finally a Rice! John Rice first married Malinda (Melinda) Powell in Pike County Mar 13, 1834. I believe Malinda to be the mother of John's three children; Serillda, Lucy Ann b. abt. 1837 and son Thomas J. Ramey. Serillda the oldest child of John is my gg grandmother. Serillda married James H. Karen, I too noticed what happened with the Floyd Co list. Please, y'all, don't let that happen here! I learn alot of cool stuff I never heard before just from the stories and such.
