I recieved this on another list and thought i'd share. Faith As found in The Librarian's Genealogy Notebook by Dahrl Elizabeth Moore ... Warning -- Genealogy Pox Very Contagious to Adults Symptoms: Continual complaint as to need for names, dates, and places. Patient has blank expression, sometimes deaf to spouse and children. Has no taste for work of any kind, except feverishly looking through records at libraries and courthouses. Has compulsion to write letters. Swears at mail carrier when he or she doesn't leave mail. Frequents strange places such as cemeteries, ruins, and remote, desolate country areas. Makes secret night calls. Hides phone bills from spouse. Mumbles to self. Has strange, faraway look in eyes. THERE IS NO KNOWN CURE! Treatment: Medication is useless. Disease is not fatal but gets progressively worse. Patient should attend genealogy workshops, subscribe to genealogical magazines, and be given a quiet corner in the house when he or she can be alone. Remarks: The unusual nature of this disease is that the sicker the patient gets, the more he or she enjoys it. By An Anonymous Author
Hi neighbors and cousins! Please bear with me awhile. I have temporarily set aside my work on the 1920 census to complete an update of my Stapleton family file. I will be taking a week away from it all next week. I'm going to OH, W.VA, VA and NC to do some research. Hopefully when I get back I'll get back on track with the census. Thanks for being patient. Bill Reed
Ann, Please put me on the list for this book also. Thank you very much, it sounds great! Gail Williams Pierce

Hi everyone, Sorry I have been so quiet. We have been on 7/12's since June and needless to say that leaves very little time for any thing else. I was sent the email listed below from a fellow researcher and thought I would pass it along. Some is from my family lines. I have only started working on the Collins side but do know that my Collins do come from Valentine Collins. Joshua Collins and Elizabeth Dale were the parents of Elizabeth who married James Madison Welch (m. Dec 11, 1860 Johnson Co.) Also have Angeline Collins daughter of William Collins and Levisa Ratliff who married William H.H. Welch Oct 28, 1882 in Whitehouse, Johnson Co. KY Below is the email from Polly. If any of you can help here please let me know. I know someone must have the Collins Family History book (you lucky dog) maybe you can do a little research for us. Thank you one and all Mary Ann FROM POLLY: I do have a question though. I don't know how familiar you are with the descendents of Valentine Collins but figure you know more about the mulungeons than I will ever hope to know. For a number of years, a 3rd cousin of mine was looking for her grandfather's parents but didn't get anywhere. I had assumed that James Wiley Collins was part of my Collins clan but cannot find anything that confirms that. I now wonder if he was one of Valentine's grandsons. James Wiley Collins was from Johnson County, Ky. and married Sachoriby Spears, daughter of William Harvey Spears and Jemima Wells. James and "Sach" (as she was called) moved to Boyd County, Kentucky. Perhpas you know someone who is familiar with that Collins family who may be of help. Also, I think I finally know which Samuel Spears married into the Welch line. He was probably the son of Spencer Spears and Roseanna Wells. I discovered a descendent of the Samuel Spears who was a son of Thomas Spears and he was able to verify that his ancestor, Samuel married Elizabeth Price.

Merlie died January 14th, 1932, she was the daughter of Manford Lemaster. If i am correct Manford was the son of Thomas and Mary "Polly" (Cantrell) Lemaster. If i have my information correct my great grandpa Alva Lemaster was Manford's brother. Hello Everyone! Got this on another list and thought you'd enjoy it. Faith Kinsman (original poem by Wayne Hand, 1999) Alas, my elusive kinsman You've led me quite a chase I thought I'd found your courthouse But the Yankees burned the place. You always kept your bags packed Although you had no fame, and Just for the fun of it Twice you changed you name. You never owed any man, or At least I found no bills In spite of eleven offspring You never left a will. They say our name's from Europe Came state side on a ship Either they lost the passenger list Or Granddad gave them the slip. I'm the only one looking Another searcher I can't find I pray (maybe that's his father's name) As I go out of my mind. They said you had a headstone In a shady plot I've been there twenty times, and Can't even find the lot. You never wrote a letter Your Bible we can't find It's probably in some attic Out of sight and out of mind. You first married a ......Smith And just to set the tone The other four were Sarahs And everyone a Jones. You cost me two fortunes One of which I did not have My wife, my house and Fido God, how I miss that yellow lab. But somewhere you slipped up, Ole Boy, Somewhere you left a track And if I don't find you this year Well......Next year I'll be back! Faith Poplin - CC for Clark Co. Can someone please help me find some type of death record on my great great grandfather? He lived in Lawrence County supposedly all his life, but it is possible that he may have moved into one of the surrounding counties. I had been told by my great aunt Carrie Caudle Griffith that he died on his 100th birthday which I believe would have been in 1925. I'm beginning to think perhaps she was confused. James Boone was on the 1860 Lawrence County census. He signed up for military service for the Civil War, but no muster record has been found nor has he been found on any unit rosters. And, he does not appear on any census after that as far as I can find unless I'm not recognizing one of the many names this family has used. Perhaps he died before reporting in for his military duty???? Bud Caudle Guthrie, Oklahoma
