I have the "William Ratliff" that married "Rebecca Jane Green" as the son of "Silas & Anne Spradlin Ratliff" of Floyd Co Ky., (which later became Johnson County). From 1844 to 1848 the large tract of land called Floyd Co Ky was sectioned off into about five other counties, one of the new counties formed was Johnson County. Silas Ratliff was the only Ratliff residing in the area that Johnson Co was formed into at that time, according to tax reports. The other Ratliff's in the area at that time was probably located in the section of Eastern Ky that was outside the new border of Johnson Co Ky. Death certificate was a "dead" end also. The doctor didn't list anything but the cause of death and place.

I found William and Rebecca in the 1870 Johnson Co. census. In 1860 William was only 14 and he was still living at home. I have looked at all the Green e families too and I can't find her with any of those families. I did the same for the 1850 census. The Ratliff family is the one my husband is from----I only have one note on Rebecca Green--says she was born May 1846 in Johnson County Ky. Right at the moment I can't remember where I got that info or even if it is correct. If I find out more will let you know. Sincerely, Virginia Turner Ratliff
