My maiden name was Poole-Ricketts. I am trying to trace my ancestors and have hit a blank wall. All I know is that my grandfather was Ralph George Ricketts (possibly Poole-Ricketts). My father always used Poole-Ricketts for his surname. According to his marriage certificate, my grandfather was born in Bristol England and his father was George Poole Ricketts and his mother was Catherine Frances Baker. But I can find no record of him anywhere before he came to Australia. He was married in Sydney NSW in 1912. Born around 1886/1887. Where does the Ricketts fit into your family? I have searched the internet resources for family history for over a month and cannot find anything relating to him. So the family story goes, some ancestor had a proviso in his will which stated that on his death if his wife wanted to remarry, she had to carry his surname on. But I don't know if he was a Poole or a Rickett! s. Hope you can help. Cheers, Dallas
