My great-great-grandfather, William Strader BEAGLES was born in Jessamine County in 1815. His parents were John Beagles and Mary Ann Hendry. He married Sarah Ann LANE. He enlisted in the Union 9th Tennessee Cavalry at Camp Laurel, Kentucky on 11 Aug. 1863. He was a scout and spy during the seige of Knoxville. He was described as 6 feet, one inch tall with red hair and blue eyes. William Strader Beagles, and his wife moved from Kentucky to Greene County, Tennessee where their children were born: William, born TN 1842, Julian (on her tombstone as Julian), born TN 1846, John A. born TN 1850, Alexander born TN 1852, Laura Ellan born TN 1854, Mary Polly born TN 1856 and Issac A. born TN 1859. William Strader Beagles and his family left Tennessee in 1880 and settled in Pulaski County, Illinois. In Illinois the name Beagles changed to Beegles. William Strader Beagles/Beegle and his wife, Sarah Ann LANE BEEGLE are buried in Pulaski Co., Illinois. their daughter, Julian (spelled that way on her tombstone) married my great-grandfather, Spencer Pennell. They are both buried in Pulaski Co., Illinois, also. My grandmother, Ollie Bertha PENNELL was the daughter of Julian Beegle and Spencer Pennell. Ollie Bertha PENNELL married James Augustus CROW from Williamson County, Illinois. I have an article from the SAGA Magazine of Southern Illinois with a picture of William Strader BEAGLES/BEEGLE and his wife, Sarah Ann LANE BEAGLES. I would have to scan and attach that (to you, Shelia since it is not allowed to send attachments to the list) or spend it by snail mail. I also have 2 articles from the Saga Magazine that are about William Strader Beagle and his family and the son of William Strader Beagle, John Beagle, and his family who also lived and are buried in Pulaski Co., Illinois. I would like to learn more about the Jessamine County Beagles; John and Mary Ann Hendry Beagles and their families. Very best wishes, Evelyn Hansson Richmond, KY
