Hi All, it's me again. In the Jessamine County, Courtyard you will find a small plaque with a list of 63 Revolutionary Soldiers. This was placed there in 1927 by the DAR. Up to several years ago this was about the extent of the known Rev. Soldiers that lived in Jessamine County. Thanks to Howard Teater, George Dean, Ernestine Hamm, and you all this list had more then doubled in size. We feel it's about time that we place another plaque next to the above one, listing all the newly discovered Soldiers that are buried in Jessamine County. We know that we may never find all of them. But, the plaque would at lest list their name. One of the goals of the Jessamine Co., Historical Society was to locate as many of these old Soldiers as possible, and to mark their graves, so they will never again be lost to time. When you came here for the History Fest, we had to send guides with you to locate some of these grave sites. We hope with a little modern technology, and some good maps to simplify things. The generations that follow should have little trouble finding these grave site. I feel that keeping these old Soldiers memory alive is very impotent us, especially now. In times of need we always reach back in time for sometime stable to cling too. These old Soldiers have been our rock for well over two hundred years now. If their memory is ever allowed to die, we as a country will surely follow. We sometimes forget, and some have never known, that freedom comes at a price. The Society has been using Topo Maps and GPS locaters for some time now. The following is a list of Revolutionary Soldiers, known to have lived in Jessamine County. I have given George and Ernestine a copy this list. They will add other locations and other names. Now, it's your turn. I am sending you the list. We would like you to look it over, and tell us what you know about these Soldiers. This will be a good winter time project. As we get feed back, we will up date this list. It will be posted from time to time. If you have any records for these Soldiers, please send it to me, so it can be placed in the files at the Historical Society. Clyde Bunch 211 Village Cir.
