Clyde I have really enjoyed your postings. You mentioned your Baker family so I thought I would send some Jessamine Co., KY references for Bakers. Clyde I am familiar with your Baker family. I am sure you know they had a large presence in Kentucky. You will also find descendants in Logan,Christian and Trigg Cos., KY. With their wonderful reputation as gunmakers & blacksmiths I tried to work out a relationship with my Bakers but was not successful. My ancestor, Benjamin Martin [Jr], of Orange Co., VA married Sarah Baker, dau. of Bartholomew, and they migrated to Lincoln Co. Kentucky by Nov 1786, when Benjamin's dau., Lucy, m John McClure. Sarah Baker Martin d 3 Apr 1811, Benjamin Martin died 1821 (Jessamine Co., KY WB C:146). It is assumed that they were buried on their home place. Benjamin owned 195 acres of 3rd rate land on Jessamine Cr. entered by Jos. McMurtry. (1799 Jessamine Co. tax list.) There were other Martins and Bakers in Jessamine Co. but their connections to my family are unknown. Baker references in Jessamine County, Kentucky.
