Erin, I tried your personal e-mail address but didn't go through. I sat and went throught the Jessamine 1820 - 30 Census last night just to see t he Murphy names. By the way it is wonderful to have access to them. They were transcribed by Thomas Smith and he gets a gold star in my book. In the 1820 William Murphy with 3 males to age 10 1 Female to age 10 1 Female to age 16 1 Female to age 45 In the 1830 Census William Murphy with 1 male under 5 1 male 5-10 2 males 10-15 1 male 15-20 1 male 50-60 1 female under 5 1 female 30-40 There were no other Murphy's listed. Now there is a J. H. Murphy on the map of Jessamine Co. down near Hickman that Clyde submitted to submitted to Jim Houpe for the Jessamine Co. site. This I believe is an 1866 map if I'm not mistaken. Then when in Nicholasville last summer I copied a couple lines from the Sulphur Well Correspondent. An entry Feb 24 1893 said "Mr. J. H. Murphy's clothing store is being repapered and other wise improved." Another entry(no date) "George Diamond worked for the clothing firm of Murphy and Horine, that later became Murphy and Miller." This is the balance of what I have on the Murphy's along with the Garrard Co. tax records I submitted a few days ago. Have not found a Joseph which is my last clue so I'll keep looking, but feel these Murphy's are some relation to my Joseph. Anna in Dallas [email protected]
