In the 1850 census, Edward (age 50, born in VA) is shown in the household of the John and Lucy Canter family, also Amanda Slaughter (12) and Roda Slaughter (10)are living there. Two census visits away is John Slaughter (21), Elvina (spelling unclear) Slaughter(26), Edwin Slaughter (8) and James Slaughter (6). Some of these may be children of Edward??? The census visit adjacent to the Canters is the family of Charles McQuerry/McQuarry; in this household there is an Abner Brim listed as a laborer born in KY. In other documents, Abner Brim is listed as bondsman and as giving consent in the above marriage of Patsey and Edward. Vital statistics show "Hampten Slaughter" born 6/9/1852 in Jessamine Co KY to Edward Slaughter and Patsey Brim. I believe that Patsey was also known as Martha and that there were 2 more sons after Hampton: George and Samuel. Martha and the 3 sons appear in the 1880 Lawrence Co IN census.
