Morning all, I was in the Jessamine County Courthouse yesterday, taking pictures for a presentation I am put together to show you in the up coming Jessamine County Heritage Fest. I happened to think of some old book I that had seen many years ago, up in the attic of the Courthouse. The last time I had seen them they were just scattered on the floor in the attic. The birds and the bats had them in pretty bad shape. I found my young friend Bobby, who takes care of the Courthouse and ask him if he would take me up in the attic. He said he would be happy too. We wound around the steep stair case that leads up into the bell tower. That old stair case seemed to be a lot steeped, and a lot more steps than I remembered some 25 or 30 years earlier. I couldn't tell witch squeaked the most, me or the old stair. When we got to the top of the stairs, I was delighted. Those old books that I had worried about all these years were stacked neatly in a little room, someone had build. I spoke with Eva McDaniel, our County Clerk yesterday. You didn't get to meet her last time, she was out of town. But, she will surely be there this time. Every time I go into the County Clerk's office, the folks there ask me when you are coming back. You made quite a impression. The old Estate Settlements have been moved, and you will have lots of room to work this time. I need you help. Our next April meeting of the Jessamine County Historical Society will be our last before you get here. This will be the last opportunely that we have to have everyone together. We would like to have some idea on how many people to plan for. They have already told me, I will be made to eat all the food that is left over. That's just their way of keeping me on my toes. So please, try to let Shelia know before April 26, that you are coming. This is not a cut off date. Their will be on cut off this year. We just need to know about how much food to order. The ladies want to bake some more of those cakes you like so well. We are counting on some of you to help with the planning and work. On Monday morning, May 21, at 8:00 o'clock, we would like to get together with a some of you to make a few final plans. We feel that this will make the Jessamine County Heritage Fest a greater success. Don't forget to sign up for the boat trip. This boat trip, on the Kentucky River will be sponsored by the Jessamine Co., Kentucky River Task Force and the City of Wilmore. Don't miss it. Don't forget to bring you cameras.
