    2. Kathleen, I, too, am related to Fains through my g-grandmother, Ludora Fain, daughter of Milford Fain, son of Pollard Fain. In my database, I show three different Evan Fains and would love to have more info to determine which is yours. Maybe another cousin found! Shelia Bruner-Ramos

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/ABB.2ACE/3429.1.1 Message Board Post: Nancy, Just a correction to your info on Evan Fain. Arkie D. Fain was my grandmother and she was born September 1, 1883 (Not April 1st, as listed here - I have seen this on another list on the web - April 1st is the birthdate of another relative in this line, but not Arkie). Also, under the children of Evan and his first wife Lucinda, you have listed Mary D. Fain with the very same birthdate as Mary D. Preston. I believe this is a typo that has been perpetuated from an on-line family tree. I must say your genealogical information has been a gold mine for me, and I appreciate it so much. My Jessamine roots extend to the Fain, Cobb, Grant, Preston, Switzer, Wade, Hamilton and several other lines, so I know we must be related somehow!! Thanks again, Kathleen Bond

I would so much appreciate it if you could tell me if there were any Pilchers or Spires/Spiers buried in Maple Grove cemetery and if so what the DOD is. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ABB.2ACE/3445 Message Board Post: Last Chance for Kentucky Death Certificate CD. I am putting the finishing touches on the Kentucky Death Certificate CD and it is set to be mailed out by Feb 7, 2004. There is still time to get involved though. If you have Death Certificates with a KENTUCKY connection, born, died or lived any part of their lives in Kentucky and would like to be a part of this project. E-mail your scanned JPEG death certificates to me at foe3643@mac.com The cost for the CD is $2.00 per CD (not death certificate) this will cover shipping and handling and the cost of the CD. The only stipulation is that you MUST donate atleast one death certificate to the project. However, the more each of us donate the larger the project will be. As of Feb 1, 2004 I currently have 1,800 death certificates that will be included on the CD. If this project proves to be a success I hope to continue it and put out one CD every six months or until there is no more interest in the Death Certificates. Anyone needing more information please feel free to e-mail me at the above address. And don't forget to drop by Tombstone Central: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~foe3643/ Cassy Sommers

James Wilson and Amanda Hampton were married August 25, 1823. That much is clear. It is almost certain that they were the parents of Oscar F. D. Wilson who has many descendants. Amanda Hampton was born before 1808 in Kentucky and died after 1838. Almost nothing more is known factually about her. However, I believe there is more information available. Amanda Hampton’s parents are known, but James Wilson is a very common name. Information about his history is sketchy and unproven to my knowledge. There are many unanswered questions regarding them. There appears to be unproven information circulating about them. For example: Amanda Hampton is also known as Mary Amanda Hampton. The only explanation I have seen for her first name is the marriage bond, which states that James Wilson intended to marry ‘Amanda Hampton.’ Her first name may have been added unintentionally. I have not yet seen proof that this James Wilson had a second marriage or that he had was also known as James ‘Harrison’ Wilson. Hopefully we will one day have a clear picture of what happened in that age.
