Another note on this man; a couple of years ago, I went thru deeds, wills, etc, to pin-point the location of the land of Manoah and Edmund Singleton - found it to be in both Jessamine and Woodford counties. One document dated July 1844, appraisal of Lewis Singleton Deceased, personal property and slaves, noted 13 slaves from the "estate of Jaconias Singleton Deceased, which have come into the hands of Lewis Singleton Deceased". This isn't exactly a proof document as to his father, but could sure be given consideration. Lewis had 8 heirs named in Oct 1846. If this were my family, I would look for Singleton documents in Woodford Co also. In 1848, there apparently was a large home on the aprx 300 acres in Woodford Co, "beginning at a rock standing in the west edge of a road leading to Versailles", and which joined more land in Jessamine. These old documents are just wonderful and tell so much about the people!...m.a. ________________________________________ PeoplePC Online A better way to Internet http://www.peoplepc.com

Hi, Carolyn, Amazing we have Rhorer ancestry AND the same last name. I have some information here about a Rhorer who doesn't seem to be anywhere. I have managed to trace his ancestry to Maryland. His name is Edward Rhorer and he was my grandfather. His father was Joseph Rhorer. They were from Colorado Springs, CO. Do you have any information about them in your books? Judith Woodson Martin

The Lewis Singleton that lived in Jessamine Co. was married to Rebekah Robards(14 Jan 1814), had six kids and after she died married her widowed sister Catherine(Kitty)Robards Keene Hervey(19 Nov, 1828). They had two children together.Kitty had four from previous unions. I have good reason to believe Jaconias was Lewis' father. Manoah was Lewis' grndfather. Cynthia "M. A. Bryce, went to "work" today, looking at old Lincoln Co Will Bk A & B - found while looking for something else, Bk B, pg 111, will of a John Caldwell, no date but entered into probate 7 Mar 1795. Then on pg 274, same Bk, will of John Dugean written 10 Apr 1804, entered 10 Jun 1805. Had just read your mail re Caldwell-Dudgean this a.m. These are late dates, but will give details if desired. m.a.farrell ________________________________________ PeoplePC Online A better way to Internet http://www.peoplepc.com
Annie, I am keenly interested in your Caldwell research. My 5g-grandmother, Rebecca Dickerson, widow of John Dickerson (John; b c1747, Amherst County, VA, d. c1789, Jessamine County, KY) (Rebecca, b. c1750, VA; d. c 1820, KY, Fayette-Bourbon area) is convincingly born Rebecca Dudgeon, daughter of John and Catherine Dudgeon of Lunenburg/Halifax County, VA. John Dudgeon is a son of John Dudgeon (b. 1691, Ireland, d. 1763, Lunenburg) and Catherine Caldwell (b. 1691, Irelan, d. VA). Catherine Caldwell is the daughter of Joseph Caldwell ( b. 1656/57 - 1730, Ireland) and his wife Jane McGhie (b. 1660, Ireland). The Caldwell family was a presence in Lunenburg/Halifax Counties, VA, being founders of the Presbyterian church there, with the Dudgeon family always right beside them, and the Dickersons closely involved. While some of the Caldwell, Dudgeon and Dickerson families are well documented through the years, many of them are 'lost', but appear all over the KY land records, especially in Fayette, occasionally Jessamine, adn surrounding counties in land and court records. There are all kinds of bits and pieces that need to be knitted together!
