    1. [KYJESSAM] RE: Shane Papers
    2. Dear listmembers, Work is proceeding nicely on plans for the upcoming Heritage Fest in Jessamine County in May. As soon as Clyde and the others have more details for me, I will post it out here for you. If any of you are new subscribers and would like more information about the fest, don't hesitate to contact me or to visit the following URL for more information: http://www.usgennet.org/usa/ky/county/jessamine/historyfest2001 Many of you may remember that I have volunteered to transcribe the Shane papers for posting on the Jessamine site. Well, copies of the originals got lost in the mail, but Clyde has tracked them down and found them here in our post office in Topeka. I'm not quite sure exactly what happened with them, but Clyde now has to send a form to the post-office, enabling them to be forwarded on to me. As soon as they arrive, I will begin transcribing them. There are only about 50 pages and shouldn't take that long to do them, as long as I am able to read the writing. Wish me luck! I hope that all of you have been gathering your info to give to the Jessamine County Historical Society. Now that they have the file cabinets set up, we need to fill them up for them with copies of your old photos, family trees, old records, etc. I know that they are particularly interested in the old photos of Jessamine County and of those early citizens. Best wishes to all, Shelia Bruner-Ramos

Elizabeth Mariah EARTHENHOUSE (b.1815 - d.1885). They had a daughter, Amanda Price CAWBY (b.1835). She 1st md. Jordan ZIKE and 2nd md. Thomas Marshal BAUGHN (b.1841 - d. c1890). I don't know the other children of John CAWBY and Elizabeth. Not sure if Elizabeth's father is Conrad, but I would guess it is. Hope this is of some help. Brent Baughn [email protected]

    3. Greetings to List Members, Hello all. I am interested in information on the following families: Cawby [John, Martin, Martin], Trisler [Peter, Susanna] and Earthenhouse [Conrad, Christina]. I have county marriage records, the Cawby letter from the Jessamine Co. History, info from the Hessian mailing list and the Jess. Co. list achive. If anyone can add to the families, let me know. One major question: Can anyone confirm if John Cawby, the elder, married Christina, daughter of Conrad Earthenhouse? I have this as a possibility, but the time frame does not seem to fit. Thanks, Terry Prall

Otherwise we would be right there in the middle of the whole thing. Would love to be able to work with all of you. But since we can't we keep up with what you all are doing and keep you in our hearts. We are still searching our ancestors there and hoping you find some of them during the cemetery project. 1. [KYJESSAM] Jessamine Co.
    2. Morning all, I got another story. Years ago, a fellow in an pickup truck, put into my driveway. I went out to see what he wanted. He ask me if I knew where he could find any old cemeteries. I looked over in the back of that old pickup, and there lay, a roll of wire, post hole diggers, and little sand and cement. My first taught was to run back in the house and lock the door. But, I didn't, and that fellow and I have been the best of friend to this day. Many of you have already guessed who I am talking about. It's Howard Teater. Mr. Teater and his love for these old cemeteries, have earned him a big place in the history of this Jessamine County. People a hundred years from now will be thumbing through his books. I told you the other day that Howard was going into the hospital to get a hip replacement. You all wrote and call him and I want to thank you for that. Ever sense you folks came here last year, Howard and been asking me about the computer, how it worked and how we were able to stay in contact with each other. I knew the day would come when he went out and bought one. Well, that day had arrived. Howard is now on line. Keep him busy, until he is back on this feet again. 3. There is a bill in the Kentucky Legislature to increase the protection of graves. This excerpt is from the Lexington Herald Leader" "A south-central Kentucky legislator says the theft of flowers and trinkets from graves is a serious enough problem to merit a crackdown. Sen. Albert Robinson, R-London, filed a bill this month that would make such thefts felonies for first-time offenders. Currently, the crime is a misdemeanor on the first offense and a felony thereafter..." This is the time to contact your representatives and ask them to vote for this bill. Cemeteries need more protection and this bill is a start.

Married 1775 Magdalena Putnam. >> I would like to point out that Henry Bruner's wife, "Mary" Magdalena, surname is spelled PUTMAN. She is the d/o German Immigrants to Maryland. Her parents were Andrew PUTMAN and Catherine Barbara BOURGEY. >From the Putman Family History: "It seems that the German Putmans descend from a family in the German Palatinate orginally spelled Boutemont which was French and then later 'Germanized' to Buttman, and then 'Angelicized' in America to Putman as the German "B" sounds like the English "P". Boutemont was pronounced Bootmon which changed quickly to Putman here. " Brent [email protected]
