    1. [KYJESSAM] Slaughter/Brim families in Jessamine Co between 1800-1870
    2. c holsapple
    3. Seeking information on Patsey Ann Brim married 11/19/1850 in Jessamine Co KY to Edward Slaughter (his second marriage). In the 1850 census, Edward (age 50, born in VA) is shown in the household of the John and Lucy Canter family, also Amanda Slaughter (12) and Roda Slaughter (10)are living there. Two census visits away is John Slaughter (21), Elvina (spelling unclear) Slaughter(26), Edwin Slaughter (8) and James Slaughter (6). Some of these may be children of Edward??? The census visit adjacent to the Canters is the family of Charles McQuerry/McQuarry; in this household there is an Abner Brim listed as a laborer born in KY. In other documents, Abner Brim is listed as bondsman and as giving consent in the above marriage of Patsey and Edward. Vital statistics show "Hampten Slaughter" born 6/9/1852 in Jessamine Co KY to Edward Slaughter and Patsey Brim. I believe that Patsey was also known as Martha and that there were 2 more sons after Hampton: George and Samuel. Martha and the 3 sons appear in the 1880 Lawrence Co IN census. Any information on these Brims or Slaughters would be much appreciated. Thank you. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Get email at your own domain with Yahoo! 2. Cathy Arp
    3. Hi, List I was wondering if someone had access to A History of Jessamine County, Kentucky from its Earliest Settlement to 1898 by Bennett H. Young? I have some copies of pages pertaining to my Hunter ancestors; however, I inadvertently forgot to copy page 43. I have page 42 which talks about Samuel moving and then goes on to the next page. I recently found out that Samuel is my G4 Grandfather and was so disappointed when I discovered that I forgot to xerox an important page. So, does anyone out there have this information? Since I'm speaking of Samuel and I'm new to the list, I'm going to list my Hunter line: Charles Hunter, Sr., Rowan County, North Carolina Jacob Hunter, Sr., Moved with his sons from Rowan County to Jessamine County ca 1778. Samuel Hunter, married Ellen ________ It looks like these folks stayed their entire lives in Jessamine Co. Daniel Hunter, married Mary "Polly" Roberts, 1819, Madison County. Moved to Boone County, Missouri William Fletcher Hunter, married Edith America Roberts. Moved from Missouri to Texas after the Civil War Christopher Columbus Hunter, married Myrtilla McRoberts, moved from Missouri to Kansas after the Civil War and ended up in Oklahoma Paul W. Hunter, Sr., married Verne Helene Ring in California. Paul W. Hunter, Jr., married Lee Buck in California Catherine Lee Hunter (ME), married Andrew Poa Arp Is there anyone related to this group? Does anyone have any info on them? I do have some information on the Jessamine County Hunters, but hardly anything on Samuel. I hope to find out Ellen's last name. I'll be glad to share what information I do have. Thanks so much! Cathy (Hunter) Arp

    2. Anna Ash
    3. Erin, I tried your personal e-mail address but didn't go through. I sat and went throught the Jessamine 1820 - 30 Census last night just to see t he Murphy names. By the way it is wonderful to have access to them. They were transcribed by Thomas Smith and he gets a gold star in my book. In the 1820 William Murphy with 3 males to age 10 1 Female to age 10 1 Female to age 16 1 Female to age 45 In the 1830 Census William Murphy with 1 male under 5 1 male 5-10 2 males 10-15 1 male 15-20 1 male 50-60 1 female under 5 1 female 30-40 There were no other Murphy's listed. Now there is a J. H. Murphy on the map of Jessamine Co. down near Hickman that Clyde submitted to submitted to Jim Houpe for the Jessamine Co. site. This I believe is an 1866 map if I'm not mistaken. Then when in Nicholasville last summer I copied a couple lines from the Sulphur Well Correspondent. An entry Feb 24 1893 said "Mr. J. H. Murphy's clothing store is being repapered and other wise improved." Another entry(no date) "George Diamond worked for the clothing firm of Murphy and Horine, that later became Murphy and Miller." This is the balance of what I have on the Murphy's along with the Garrard Co. tax records I submitted a few days ago. Have not found a Joseph which is my last clue so I'll keep looking, but feel these Murphy's are some relation to my Joseph. Anna in Dallas [email protected]

    2. Erin Bradford
    3. Hi. I'm searching for John Murphy in Jessamine county around 1816. He had a daughter named Elizabeth who married John Hackett in Jessamine County in 1816. The only thing I know about John is his name, no dates or anything. The info that was submitted earlier about Joseph Murphy made me think there was a possibility that Joseph and John are possibly brothers because the age of Sally (Joseph's daughter) and Elizabeth (John's daughter) is only a few years different. The tax records from Garrard county that were sent to the list earlier about John Murphy from 1797-1813 made me think that he could possibly be my John, that maybe my John lived originally in Garrard County and then later moved to Jessamine County to be there in 1816 (although I don't even know that is where Elizabeth and her family was from, but since they were married there, and John Hackett was from Fayetee county, it would make sense they got married in Elizabeth's town). If anyone has any information or c! an! help me straighten out the John of Garrard vs. Elizabeth's father, please email. I've been stuck on this line for about 3 years now. Thanks! Erin Bradford [email protected]

    1. [KYJESSAM] Printing (Plotting) a genealogy chart
    2. The Harrisons
    3. I have a copy of Corel Family Tree which allows you to format your own tree and save it in plotter format (or print directly to a plotter). I checked at Kinkos here a couple of years ago and was told it would be $30 to $50 to have it printed out. Do you know anyone who works for a school district? I do and they have a Print Shop there where they teach the students how to do professional print jobs of all kinds. They told me they would print it for less than $10.

    1. [KYJESSAM] Printing (Plotting) a genealogy chart
    2. Carolyn Bowers
    3. I wonder if anyone has had experience with having a genealogy chart commercially printed. I live in the Washington, DC, area and a local printer (Kinkos) quoted me a price of $15 per square foot plus a $10 set up fee. They can print up to 52 inches wide by as long as you want. Also, it would be printed in color. The chart would be printed from a file (that I would save on a disk). There is a 24 hour turn around time as the plotter makes copies slowly. By my calculation, a 2 by 3 foot chart would cost $100. Of course, I can print it out on my printer and tape all the pages together, but I would like to have a nice looking single sheet as I would like to give them as "thank yous" for family members who have helped me with my research. Is there a less expensive way of having charts printed? Carolyn Bowers

    1. [KYJESSAM] Jessamine Maps
    2. Morning All, What about that Jim? I sent the Jessamine County Maps to Jim, and two days later he had them on the Web-Page for everyone to enjoy. Thank you so much Jim. You do a great job with the Web-Page. With out you everything would be scattered to the wind. These maps were printed in 1877. I scanned then in four sections, Northeast, Northwest, Southeast and Southwest. We are in the process of sending another set of maps to Jim. This next set was printed in 1861. Make sure you download and save a copy of these maps. You will stay up many a night pondering over them. With the help of these maps, we may be able to locate where you ancestors lived. If you can find them on these map we can show you fairly close to where they lived. Sometimes the old homeplaces are still standing. I scanned the maps at a high DPI so they could be read easy. Bob (Kd6gpj), these are the same maps I sent you a year or so ago. The plans for the up coming Fest are just about complete. If you think last year was something. You should see what the folk here have planed for you this time. Clyde ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! 3. To All Who Replied to My Message: Thanks. I ran a check on the archives last night and pulled the pertinent messages. I was aware of the John T. Cawby - Elizabeth Earthenhouse marriage. My question dealt with John T. 's grandfather John. Richard Cawby had sent me information suggesting that John [the elder] had married a Christina Earthenhouse, based on a "Cawvey" marriage. If anyone stumbles across anything that will fit let me know. I will post what I have in the next couple of days. Thanks again. Terry

    3. ----- Original Message ----- From: "HANSSON" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, February 26, 2001 2:25 PM Subject: Jessamine County Information for Society Hello Shelia, I believe I am a member of the Jessamine Genealogy Society although I haven't received any newsletters or mail from the Society. My great-great-grandfather, William Strader BEAGLES was born in Jessamine County in 1815. His parents were John Beagles and Mary Ann Hendry. He married Sarah Ann LANE. He enlisted in the Union 9th Tennessee Cavalry at Camp Laurel, Kentucky on 11 Aug. 1863. He was a scout and spy during the seige of Knoxville. He was described as 6 feet, one inch tall with red hair and blue eyes. William Strader Beagles, and his wife moved from Kentucky to Greene County, Tennessee where their children were born: William, born TN 1842, Julian (on her tombstone as Julian), born TN 1846, John A. born TN 1850, Alexander born TN 1852, Laura Ellan born TN 1854, Mary Polly born TN 1856 and Issac A. born TN 1859. William Strader Beagles and his family left Tennessee in 1880 and settled in Pulaski County, Illinois. In Illinois the name Beagles changed to Beegles. William Strader Beagles/Beegle and his wife, Sarah Ann LANE BEEGLE are buried in Pulaski Co., Illinois. their daughter, Julian (spelled that way on her tombstone) married my great-grandfather, Spencer Pennell. They are both buried in Pulaski Co., Illinois, also. My grandmother, Ollie Bertha PENNELL was the daughter of Julian Beegle and Spencer Pennell. Ollie Bertha PENNELL married James Augustus CROW from Williamson County, Illinois. I have an article from the SAGA Magazine of Southern Illinois with a picture of William Strader BEAGLES/BEEGLE and his wife, Sarah Ann LANE BEAGLES. I would have to scan and attach that (to you, Shelia since it is not allowed to send attachments to the list) or spend it by snail mail. I also have 2 articles from the Saga Magazine that are about William Strader Beagle and his family and the son of William Strader Beagle, John Beagle, and his family who also lived and are buried in Pulaski Co., Illinois. I would like to learn more about the Jessamine County Beagles; John and Mary Ann Hendry Beagles and their families. Very best wishes, Evelyn Hansson Richmond, KY
