Hi List Members, I am a Renfro researcher. There were Renfros in Jassamine and Madison Co. I have a Henry Taylor who married Sarah Renfro (b- after 1726 d 1777). And I have Henry Taylor who married China Renfro (b-1731 m bef. 1744). I hope some of you Taylor researchers can tell me if this is the same Henry Taylor or how did this happen? Hi All - I am new to the list. I am researching for my friend. He is looking for any information on James ANDERSON and Sarah TAYLOR married between 1811 - 1817 in Jessimine Co. I have checked various census and have found these people, but not together and really have no proof that the people I found are the corrects ones. I cannot find a marriage record for them. Any information is appreciated. I do have other ANDERSON and TAYLOR information, if anyone is interested. Thank You - Linda in NM :)
Hi List Members, Thanks to Shelia's message , I discovered that one of my surnames was located in Jassamine Co at some time in the past! This could be the break I have been needing in my research! I would appreciate any info available on the Yost Family of your area, especially in the late 1700s and 1800's. Was there a Francis, Andrew or? Thanks for your help! Nancy Brown Santa Ana, Ca
I hope that everyone is back home safe and sound after your trip to Nicholasville. It was a remarkable week, even with the rain being present most of the week, but we won't begrudge them the rain. They needed it badly! I had a wonderful time and so enjoyed meeting new friends, as well as seeing old ones again and reconnecting with those "kissin cuzzins" that I discovered several years ago through the internet, Sue, Phillip, Kent and Dick. I hope that all of you realize what a wonderful contribution you have made to preserving the history of Jessamine County, with your books, files, photos and contributions toward the cemetery fund. It may be a slow process getting those cemeteries restored, but we saw, first-hand, that it is happening and can be proud that we have participated in the process. As Clyde mentioned, the Moravian cemetery is one that is at the top of the list for restoration. As we found, when we visited it, there is quite a lot of work to be done on that one, but my hope is that the Historical Society will be able to enlist volunteers to help in the clean-up. That particular cemetery is so vital to the history of the area, containing the remains of some of the earliest settlers to the region, many of whom are ancestors to those of us attending the Fest this year. Those include the surnames of Bruner, Bowman, Corman, Crews, Dean, Delaney, Harris, Herod, Maple, Oakes, Parsh, Rice, Rhorer, Sageser, Smith, Stipe, Vantrees, Watts, Yocum and Yost. After the restoration, the Historical Society would like to erect a plaque in honor of those buried there and will be accepting donations toward the cost of the plaque, as well as suggestions for the wording of this plaque. I know there has to be someone out there who has a "way with words" and can come up with an inscription' befitting those buried in that cemetery. I have volunteered to be in charge of this little project, so you can contact me if you want to help. For those of you who were unable to attend, I hope that each of you will still plan on making a trip to Jessamine County in the future. The Historical Society, as well as the city, welcomes you and will be happy to assist you in any way possible. Clyde Bunch and Howard Teater encourage you to contact either of them if you need assistance, while there. Their e-mail addresses are as follows: Clyde Bunch [email protected] Howard Teater [email protected] Thanks, again, to each of you and I hope to see all of you again one day. Shelia

Hi Jo & All, When you don't think it can get any better, them think again. I got a call this morning from a Mr. Bishop. He informed me that he had just bought the old Duncan - Nave house on North Main Street in Nicholasville. He went on to tell me that they were going to turn it into a Bed & Breakfast. I was so pleased. This is one of the older houses in the county, and one that we were very concerned about. Do you remember me tell you about Samuel Duncan's grandfather getting kill by the Indians in 1791, and he was buried in the Duncan Cemetery? This cemetery is near this house. I told Mr. Bishop we would help him in any way we can. So, if you a in the line of the Duncan or Nave family, less jump in and help this fellow. He wants to know all about the place. Looks like you all will have another place to stay when you come to Jessamine. This is going to be the salivation of many of these old house, so less do what we can to help. He sounds like a super nice guy. Jo, I didn't go to the Moravian cemetery with them, so I don't know what all they found. I seen a few of them when they came back in. The were muddy, wet, and tired. But, all had big smiles on their faces. I am sure you going to hear all about it. Keep sending me you comments about your trip. I will saving and treasure them all. I went around and thank everyone this morning for you. You did put your best foot forward. They had all kinds of nice things about you. Hi to all those Fest 2 attendees...... I am dying to know what you guys found in the Moravian cemetery. Did you find any more stones that were identifiable?? I was thinking about all of your wishing I could have been there but my thoughts were with you all. I hope that any new finds will be posted to the list for those of us who missed all the fun. Can't wait to hear everyones stories. Jo Arnspiger
Morning Tina & All, We had a great time, and yes I am a little tired, but give me a few day, and I will be up and running again. We got a good write up in the Lexington Leader about cleaning the old Moravian Cemetery. When Shelia get home she will post or send to all that would like to read it. I taught about you when we were on the Dixie Bell. I said, if Tina were here she would be dancing to the banjo, and patting her foot. That's one boat ride I will remember the rest of my life. You didn't tell me about the Trisler reunion over in Mercer County. If we had known, we could have invited them over. I bet they would have liked to have seen in the old Moravian Cemetery. It is more then likely Peter Trisler is buried there. Tell Bill I said hello. Clyde ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO!
