Hi All, I was in the Jessamine County, Courthouse yesterday. Most of the books that were sent out to be laminate are back now. They even did more books then we ask to be done. I know this must have cost this county a fortune. I was afraid to ask how much. This project may have never been done, if not for the interest your folk have shown in Jessamine County. Your coming here for the History Fest those two year, had a great impact. Your e-mail to the new papers, courthouse, library and other places helped too. The cemetery project is going well also. I wish you all could be could be here a see these people work. In the cemeteries that are in really bad shape, we have had people bring in backhoes and other big equipment. They never charge use a dime. It makes you feel good to see people doing things from the heart, and shows you what kind of people we have here. Our cemetery fund is holding up fairly well. But, don't stop sending your donations. Howard really gets a kick out of every check he gets, and I get a kick out of seeing his expression. I have seen him more happy this past year, then all the time I have known him, and that's a long time. Do you remember me telling you about Mike Bishop? He is the one that bought the old Duncan House, and it turning it into a Bed & Breakfast. He and his wife are fine people. They are both members of the Jessamine Co., Historical Society. I would love for you to drop him a line and tell him how much we appreciate what he has done. As I told you before this may be the salvation of a lot of these old houses. Now you have a home away from home, when you come to Kentucky. Mike's e-mail address is: [email protected] I will be stepping down as president of the Historical Society this year. In fact, this next meeting will be my last. We don't meet in the winter. You all have made my turn in the barrel a great one, and I will never forget you all. I am not going anywhere, I will still remain a link for you to the Jessamine Co.. If you are not a member of the Jessamine County, please join. The membership is $5 a year. As I told Shelia some time ago, if I had known you would have been such a benefit to this county, I would have paid your dues. One other thing and I will let you go. Some more great news. The Jessamine Co., High School, has just started teaching a class on Kentucky and Jessamine Co., History. I am delighted. When I have ask you in the past to write and e-mail people, you always respond. Will I am asking you again. The fellow that started this history class is Tim Weldon. I have known him for many years. I would love for you to write to Tim and these young folks, and tell them we are behind them 100%. I think they would be surprised seeing how wide spread the interest in Jessamine Co. reaches Tim's e-mail address is: [email protected] We are taking about a picnic for next year. We could all get together. What do you think? The overlook at High Bridge Park was completed yesterday. I was one of the first out on it. I stood there 300 ft. up looking down at the Dixie Bell, as she went down the river. It was great. I though about you all. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ABB.2ACE/3207 Message Board Post: Hoping for info on the family of William & Elizabeth "Betsy" Hunter. They were married in Jessamine in 02/1808 and both are buried in Maple Grove Cemetery in Nicholasville. Elizabeth's maiden name was HUNTER. On the marriage bond William's father is listed as JOHN HUNTER and Elizabeth's mother is listed as ROSANNAH HUNTER (assume her father was dead by 1808?). The census for 1810-1840 show children at varies ages but by 1850 only two were still listed in the household, JAMES (age 23) and CHARLES (age 13). Elizabeth died in 1858 and William at age 70+ married a widow with two children named FRANCES GIBNEY (age 33) in 1859. Trying to identify the parents and children of William & Elizabeth. Thinking that William could be the son of JOHN HUNTER one of the first settlers of Jessamine with his brothers, JACOB and SAMUEL. Anyone know the children of these three brothers, particularly JOHN's ?
