Morning All, Some had ask, how to get a Kentucky River Guide? Send me a self address #10 envelope, with two 34 cent stamps. Send it too: Clyde Bunch 211 Village Cir. Wilmore, KY 40390 Bryce - We have MSWord on the computer at the Historical Society, so use that format. I seen Sue yesterday and forgot to ask her for our list. I will give her a call, and ask her to send it to me. Things will slow up for me soon, and we well get all our little ducks lined up. Thank you, so much for doing this. It will be a great help to everyone. If you have not e-mail Bryce your information, please do so. Cynthia - Their is nothing I had rather see then for the Historical Society to have a news letter. When we get you to move down here from Ann Arbor, you can have the job. We have one more meeting this year. This will be on the 25th. I will tell you all who our new officers are then. You buddy Sue, is off the hook. She has been our treasure for nine years. Now you and she can go play in the old cemeteries. Shelia - Your being awfully quite. Morning All, I went to the mail box the other day and it was full of letters. I seen some new names I had not seen before. Thank you for the nice letters and comments. I mailed out quite a few Kentucky River Guides. You are going to like those. The map and 24 pages are full of Jessamine County history. When you get your guide, I would like to see some input to the Jessamine-List. This is just the first printing of this guide. I am sure it will be reprinted and up dated next year. It became very popular here. In fact it won a award. If you have any old pictures, or Info., about the river, we would like to know about them. One of the main goes in cleaning up the old cemeteries in Jessamine County, was to find as many Revolutionary Soldiers as possible, and to get them new headstone were it was necessary. We told you, if you help do the research, we would order and place the stones. The offer still stands. We owe they old soldiers a great deal, a lot more then a simple gravestone could ever repay. We only knew a few of their names up to a few years ago. Thanks to George Dean, and some others that list has grown several time over. Their is a small plaque in the courthouse years with some of these soldiers on it. I would like to see another plaque place by the side of this one, listing the other Rev. Solders that have been found, here in Jessamine. Maybe we can take this on as another project. It would be a good excuse to get you all back here, for a dedication. Let me give you an address were you can order forms that will help you in your research. If you do order Rev. Papers, we would like a copy for our files. http://www.nara.gov/research/ordering/ordrfrms.html Clyde ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! Hi, Jessamine County - I have enjoyed reading your exchanges, especially Clyde's postings that give me some sense of the county and its past. This is my first try at posting a query: My great-great grandfather, Bennet [or Bennett] Thomas [born 1769 in Maryland] and his wife Elizabeth were in Jessamine County c1800 to 1814, when they moved on to Daviess County, Indiana. Several of their children--specifically Mary, James, Solomon, David and Delila--were born in Kentucky. David and Delila were baptised as infants in Indiana, so I would guess that the other children were baptised too, but in Jessamine Co. Are there any old baptismal records from that era in Jessamine County? The family was Methodist in Indiana.... The only place I've found Bennet in Kentucky is in the 1810 census. [There was another Bennett Thomas in that census, but he was in Washington County; he's rather well documented, but my Bennet remains a mystery.] I've found no Kentucky land records for him and wonder if he was a squatter [for 14 years?]. In the same 1810 census there were Thomas households in Jessamine County for David, John Sr., and John Jr. as well as Bennet Thomas. But the 1810 census has been alphabetized, so I can't tell if they lived near one another [increasing the possibility that they might have been related]. I have not found Bennet in the Marylanders-to-Kentucky materials. I'm against the proverbial brick wall, trying to trace Bennet back. Does anyone have any thoughts for me? What kinds of information exists for that 1800-1814 era? ...migration patterns in and out of the county, etc.? Or any information about those other Thomas households? [I did find reference to an 1816 will for a David Thomas in Jessamine County, leaving his estate to his widow Catherine.] Obviously I'm grasping at straws. I'll be grateful for any suggestions. Thanks - Emily in Albuquerque
