I have started posting Jessamine County/Nicholasville Obits from the Herald Leader Newspaper to the new Jessamine Co. page. www.jessaminecounty.org I have 2 years worth of these obits..and some from the Jessamine Journal that I had posted on the past page. We should try to use this page, Jim went out of his way to establish this site so we ALL could continue to post our family info, photos, deeds, wills, etc. This site gives us all the same services as the 'Old' site before rootsweb took over. My great grandfather, George Gaylord was born in New York, abt 1813. He married Margaret ?, who was born in Tennessee in 1822. This is according to the 1850 Census of Jessimine County, Kentucky. He supposedly was a cabinet maker and maker of fine furniture. Family tradition has it that he left for New York about 1854 due to the impending death of his mother. He never reached New York. The tradition has it that he was riding a "fine" horse and had $1,000 in his saddlebags. He does not show up in the 1860 census, but his family does. I am looking for any information that anyone might have on my great grandparents. Thanks for any help, Russ Turner The Woodlands, Texas
