Rita, Thanks for your and any others input, suppose I need to ride down there to confirm that. I have also been told it could be: a.. St. Patrick's Catholic Church at about 17th and Market St b.. St. Patrick Church at 15th & Market. St. Patrick School was at 16th & Market went many years to both. Anyone close by whom could give their thoughts?? I found a postcard showing the Cathedral of the Assumption at http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.oldlouisville.com/postcard s/Louisville/pic/2ndPresby1_small.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.oldlouisville.com /postcards/Louisville/Broadway.htm&h=163&w=100&sz=6&tbnid=hOsG5s8U2T0J:&tbnh =91&tbnw=56&start=4&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dassumption%2Bchurch%2Blouisville%26hl %3Den%26lr%3D%26sa%3DN. (Scroll down to "rest" of Louisville--not Old Louisville--and click on Churches. It's among that grouping.) It's very close, but the windows of the Cathedral are arched, rather than rounded, as in the flood photo. And the roofline is different. Not sure if those could have been changed or not. (I know it underwent a major facelift a few years ago, but I doubt the 1937 photo and the postcard were taken more than a few decades apart.) Couldn't find St. Patrick's or St. Anthony's in a google image search.
