Hi Pat - Would you happen to see a store named Beasley and Langon in your book regarding Louisville, or something that is spelled somewhat similarly. I am transcribing my grandfather's memoirs and his handwriting is really bad. He makes reference to shopping at what looks like Beasly and Langan. Thanks - Pat in Ohio
Pat, I've checked the entire index of "The Encyclopedia of Louisville" and can't find anything that even remotely sounds like what you're looking for. There is a section on department stores. Here are some of the ones listed: J. Bacon & Sons, 1845 Stewart's, 1846 Kaufman-Strauss, 1879 Ben Snyder's Oak Hall The Fair H.P. Selman and Co. 1915-1970 Byck Brothers & Co. 1902-1991 Levy Brothers, 1861-1979 Loevenhart & Co., 1898-1995 Appel's, 1883-1963 Bon Ton, 1916-1961 Rodes-Rapier, 1890-? Sorry I can't be more help.
