    1. Re: [KYJEFFER] Hoke Burials
    2. The grass is cut and it looks tidy, but the markers have not been restored, and are all in need of cleaning. Some have toppled. Most are out of sandstone. They have a rust colored moss all over them. Unfortunately, there does not seem to be a plat of who is buried there. I think that this is one of those cases of "somebody should take care of this" and there aren't enough "somebodies" to do so. This touches on my latest soapbox topic--declining enrollment in civic minded organizations. Younger adults (under 40) don't join organizations like women's clubs, DAR/SAR, Shriners, Freemasons, Rotarians, Elk, Moose, IOOF, Commerical Clubs, etc. that normally would take on projects like cemetery restoration. Scouting has suffered a serious decline, and there aren't enough older scouts or scout leaders to tackle projects like a cemetery restoration. This worries me, because organizations keep people connected to their community and foster civic awareness. Back off my soap box and under my rock... Alex
