    1. [KYJEFFER] How to get Louisville church records/Obit database

    3. Since I returned from vacation, I have been doing marriage lookups for people searching Louisville. Most of the time, I do not find the information people desire. As a result, I am going to re-post some advice for people who are looking for marriage records during the mid-late 1880s to the present. If you have an idea of where they lived from a census or from a city directory, then use the following web page to locate the church that served that address and contact them for help. I had an 1850 census that gave me a ward. Barb T on the list was able to tell me the boundaries of the ward. Then I researched catholic churches that served residents within the boundaries and narrowed down the search to two catholic churches. I got the e-mail address of the Louisville diocese historian and requested information. They found the record in the Cathedral of the Assumption. I posted the information I got from the Catholic Diocese and it is now on this web page: http://home.ix.netcom.com/~gsdownr/usgw/jefferson/church.html Also, Teddy had a marriage book she used to find the marriage. Maybe Teddy can post what the book was and how to get access to it. I am sure this URL has been published before, but I thought it deserved repetition: Louisville Free Public Library Obituary Database: http://www.louisville.lib.oh.us/genealogy/obit/ Diane Shaw Cool St. Louis, MO
