That illusive ggrandfather, Samuel Duffield Bowman, has appeared a 4th time. A lookup kindly found him where others had failed in 1880 census for Jefferson Co, he was living in household of James and Mary J Moore who was a cooper. Known as "Duffield Bowman" he was boarding along with several other people (Michael Spiegel with wife Anna and daughter Elizabeth, Albert Taylor, Adolph Gasshoff, Tilford Bowman, John Carroll, Joseph Hellmoth Sr and Joseph Hellmoth Jr -- all but one of these were also coopers.) If anyone can ad to this information I would be eternally grateful. So far he was found in 1860 census for Pope Co, ILL as a 4 year old with family, big gap to this 1880 census, then I found him in 1886 Directory for Louisville as Duffield Bowman, and then in 1904 for a 2nd marriage in Marion County Indiana as S.Duffield Bowman. Not many appearances for a 40 year span. There was a marriage sometime around 1885 ? to Amelia "Minnie" Bosaw of Switzerland Co, IND where she and children appear regularly in census w/o out him. In 1900 she is marked as divorced. I have not yet found this marriage or divorce. Thanks for any help. Karen Bowman Clanin
