Thank you for the additional information on James Vance and the Welsh family. I have run into the Malott name before when I was helping someone with Postlethwaits (I think? it was several years ago.) Didn't they have a lot of intermarriage with the Batman family? Seems that at one time there was a hamlet named Malott in Shelby Co., just across the Jefferson co. line?
