Good question. I think it depends on where he was residing at the time of death. I have seen residents of KY who where killed in OH while visiting have duplicate death certificates. However, if they were residing elsewere and were returned to Louisville for burial that may not be the case. Catholic Cemeteries generally records the funeral home that handled the body, and often, if the home is still open, they will have some interesting information. If the funeral home happens to be Schildt's, those records are at the Filson Club, as are those of Maas Funeral Home. (Maas, btw, was mostly non-catholic.)
