Hiram Malott settled sometime in the early 1800s in the Fern Creek/Middletown area. His farm was close to present day Volney Ct./Hurstbourne Prkway area. Hiram and some of his family are buried in J-town cemetery. He had a daughter who married a Batman. Most of his descendants moved to Indiana and then further west. He was a cousin to my Elias Malott who settled near Penn Run. His farm is now Cinderella Estates and Wesley Manor Nursing/Retirement communtiy on East Manslick Rd. I remember seeing the name Malott on an old map that hung at the Filson when it was on Breckinridge Lane. Malott was near Seatonville, if I recall, and was named for the postmaster, one of Hiram grandson's or gr-grandsons.
