    3. What you say is true. Depending on which part of the city you lived in usually determined which bridge you used. People in the west end of the city usually went over the bridge at that end of the city and into New Albany, Floyd County, Indiana. And if you lived in the east end of the town you went across the other bridge and into Jeffersonville, Clark County, Indiana. The reason for going to Indiana was that until last half of the 20th century you had to be 21 to marry in the state of Kentucky without parental consent. Also there used to be a law requiring a blood test and a 3 day waiting period from the time you applied for the marriage liscense and the time you could get the liscence. That was not the case in Indiana. There was no waiting period and you could get married at 18 without parental consent. I know the waiting period was still in effect in 1971 when I was married in Kentucky. I don't remember the legal age of marriage then as I was already 21 when I married. The age requirement was the same for both male and female when it was in effect. Millie --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com).
