Debbie: The Ancestry disk is "Kentucky Vital Records - Marriages 1780 to 1920 Selected Counties. Here is what the disk cover says: "Over 212,000 records collected from 75 of 120 counties." I note that Jefferson County is included. As to whether or not ANY database is complete, I personally assume that no information source is complete. When I search a source and find nothing, my conclusion is that THAT SOURCE did not contain the information. I have a full membership in Ancestry. (Thanks to a nice Christmas gift!) and this CD of KY marriages and yet, I could not find the marriage of my great-great-grandparents. I found it by asking people on this list! It was Teddy who found the marriage in the marriage book she had. Between the spelling of the names being off and the fact that the marriage took place in 1849, I might never have found it. The marriage did take place in Louisville. I just had to keep searching EVERY source until I found it. That marriage has been the most valuable piece of info I have found on that side of the family so far. I do lookups on the disk to repay all of the people who have helped me. I found the birthplace of my great-great-grandfather in Donegal, Ireland because a very sweet man in a tiny town outside of Donegal City researched the approximate birth date in local records and found the record for me. Recently, my brother and his wife honeymooned in Donegal and met some of the newly found rellies. Like the Lone Ranger, he was unable to locate the man who made it all happen. There is so little in the way of early records in Jefferson County, that ANY source is a good source. I checked the disk and there are quite a few records for Jefferson County. I bought the disk because if MY family records are not there - and they were not - SOMEBODY's are. I have found a few names for people on this list so I feel the CD was worthwhile. Sorry, if I sound preachy. Maybe it's because I just got back from church!!! So, here is what might be good news for Karen Bowman: I found a marriage on the disk in Carroll County, KY for Collie Bowman to Dellie Taylor in 1883. It is in Book4 page 246. Race of both parties: White Could this be Hugh McCollie Bowman, called Collie?
