    3. According to the Encyclopedia of Louisville, St. John's became the United Church of Christ in 1957. German was the official language until 1893 for the church, so early records are most likely in German. The EofL also gives: The church houses the archives of the German Heritage Society. Official church records (baptismal, confirmation, marriage, and death entries) date from 1848. I noted that the early records have been microfilmed by LDS and are available through the Family History Centers for those who can't make the trip to Louisville.
