Dear Listers, I have found, due to the kindness of a fellow Lister, that my ggf was an engineer for the A. V. Dupont company in Louisville in 1871. Has anyone heard of this outfit? The Dupont company that we all know about today was a poor, lackluster outfit in Europe until WWI, so I do not think this is the same company. Looking at the history of the Fiske family, I suspect that A. V. Dupont had something to do with the distilling business. The Fiskes were constantly involved with the manufacture or shipment of booze. I believe it was my gggf, Peleg Fiske of New Albany, who was a riverboat pilot that delivered whiskey to the Confederate army until about 1864 when the Yankees shot his boat out from under him in Louisville. That action slowed him down a bit. Tom, formerly of Louisville
