Hi Carol, According to the Encyclopedia of Louisville the first German Methodist Episcopal church was on Clay St. between Market and Jefferson St.in 1842. A second German Methodist Episcopal church began in Louisville in 1848 and constructed a building at 12th and Madison in 1850. the church moved in 1912 to 18th and Ormsby St.. The congregation later merged with the St. Peter Church ( fromerly Davison Memorial )to form Crum's Lane Church ( now Shively United Methodist.)
