If this person is Catholic, I have found that burials from Portland's Catholic cemetery were dug up and moved to one of the "newer" Catholic Cemetery. In the case of mine, it was St. Louis Cemetery, but you might also check on St. Michael's or Calvary. the Catholic Church Cemetery records office is at the latter. They have a computerized system and make it very easy to find burials. I've also ordered lists for certain surnames by mail, for a small fee. It's been a while though, so check first to see if they still offer that service. Good luck! Rita Mackin Fox Searching in Jefferson Co. for Nichter, Freville, Head, Bouchard, Mackin, (NOT Fox, though--my husband's family is from southeastern Pennsylvania). Working on a proposal for Arcardia Publishing for a photographic history of Germans of Louisville. If you have photos to share, please let me know! Expected publication date 2006-2007. -----Original Message----- From: Sunkist [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Saturday, February 19, 2005 7:12 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [KYJEFFER] Portland, Jefferson Co, KY I would be coming from Portland OREGON ... but not anytime soon!! Noticing the recent post, I figured I would pass on this helpful info for those interested in the above cemeteries. You can contact Archdiocese of Louisville Catholic Cemeteries at 502-451-7710 or by fax @ 502-456-9270. They do charge a small fee but provide very helpful bits of info. For info pertaining to either cemetery, you just need to call the above. I am not positive but I think they can also help with Calvary Cemetery also. Also, if needed- I have maps of St. Louis and St. Michaels if anyone would like it in image form. Hope this helps some.
