    3. Yes there was an orphans' home on Bardstown Rd. in the 1940's and I went to school with some of the kids.     3. Yes, there was a children's home at 1250 Bardstown Rd in Louisville. It was torn down about 1960 and replaced by Mid CIty Mall. It was an old looking place but not sure HOW old. It was a protestant institution I believe.     3. The German Protestant Orphan Asylum opened in 1851 on Jefferson St. between 19th and 20th Streets. By 1902, it was renamed the Protestant Orphans Home and relocated to 1250 Bardstown Road. In 1961, it moved to Goldsmith Ln. and became Brooklawn Children's Home.
