I have a copy of an old family photograph that I'm trying to identify. I believe it is my GGrandfather and GGrandmother's wedding photo. If so, it would be from the 1890's. At the bottom is the photographer's Identification: J.M. Gregory, 810 Market Street. Anyone have a list of Louisville businesses that can place it in a particular decade? Thanks Bob __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection around http://mail.yahoo.com
Bob, Funny, I was just in this area today looking for old homes for another list member. I have looked in the 1859 directory and the closest match of Gregory on Market is of a Tilford Gregory, butcher at Market bet. Clay and Shelby. In this book, there are several other Gregory's with nearby addresses but not on Market and not a photography place. In 1911, I find no Gregory's living on Market nor do I find any that are photographers. Wished I could help more. These are the only 2 directories which I have access to. Bob, Gregory's Gallery was advertised under the proprietorship of J. M. Gregory at 810 Market Street beginning in 1887 through 1895. Before 1887, J. M. Gregory was at 78 W. Main (1870), 114 Market, 105 4th and 613 W. Market. It would be reasonable to estimate that your photo was taken sometime between 1887and 1895. Hope this helps, Deborah ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bob" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, February 25, 2005 7:52 PM Subject: [KYJEFFER] Trying to ID an Old Photograph >I have a copy of an old family photograph that I'm trying to identify. > I believe it is my GGrandfather and GGrandmother's wedding photo. Deborah, Curious as to your sources for this lookup. NOT to doubt your word but I suppose I am more interested to know whether these were online sources or others. I was only able to find 1859, 1890 and 1911 directories online based on the subscriptions that I have. Thanks much for any additional guidance.
