    1. Re: [KYJEFFER] Louisville Jewish Cemeteries
    2. Here's what "The Encyclopedia of Louisville" has to say about Jewish cemeteries: (page 170) "The earliest record of a Jewish burial site was ADATH ISRAEL, known as Hebrew Cemetery, first described in 1859. It was located on the southwest corner of Preston and Woodbine. The cemetery was moved to its present location on Preston St. south of Eastern Parkway when Interstate 65 was constructed. At one time there was a Hebrew cemetery on the south side of Wathen Ln., west of Seventh Street Road, but about 1934 those buried there were moved to the cemetery on Preston. Each of the Jewish congregations - The Temple (a merger of Adath Israel and Brith Shalom), Adath Jeshurun, Keneseth Israel, Anshei Sfard, and Temple Shalom - has its own burial site. All but Temple Shalom own land on Preston St; Temple Shalom uses a consecrated site in Cave Hill Cemetery. Across Preston St. from the others is Agudath Achim Cemetery, which retains its name though the congregation merged with Adath Jeshurun." Hope this helps.
