    2. During one census, my oldest son as living with us. Within a month, he took a job in another county and moved. Later when we were talking on the phone, he said his landlord told him the census taker had been there that day and told my son how he had put his name down. So in that census he was listed as Nicholas in our household and Nick in the other county. It takes quite awhile to get the information gathered so it could be possible the wife was living when the census was taken and died before it was published. 3. I know that if somebody tries to look me up in the 2000 census someday, they won't find me. I am in the military and was away from home on assignment, so the person who was my wife at the time didn't put me since I wasn't physically in our house. However, we were told by the military where I was stationed to make sure that we got counted where we really lived, not where we currently were. Her refusal to cooperate made it so I would not be counted. If I am not mistaken, in certain years, they were supposed to count people who lived there as of 1 January or some other such date, despite the fact that the census was taken later. I could be wrong though. If this was the case, however, it could explain why people who had died could be counted. If the people who were actually answering the questions couldn't keep track of the date...
