    1. KRESSEL FAMILY

    3. Hi All, I'm trying to break down my brick wall by finding my great grandmother's family. Maria KRESSEL was born in Hesse-Kassal in Germany in 1830. She married Johannes BAISCH in 1852 in St. Peter's in Louisville. They lived in Harrods Creek until their deaths. Maria died in 1873 and Johannes (John) in 1878. I found Maria's obit in the Anzinger, but unfortunately it does not give her place of birth or surviving members of her family. During my research, I found another KRESSEL family in St. Paul's. Marguerite KRESSEL died in 1848. Her husband's name was Martin and she left three young children. She was born in Babenhausen, Germany. I thought for sure I had found Maria's family. I looked through all the church records in Babenhausen, but couldn't find Maria's birth. I found Marguerite's birth, Martin's birth, their marriage, and even Martin's remarriage in 1852 (he returned to Babenhausen in 1849). I'm sure there must be a connection, but so far I haven't been able to find it. I even went through all the emigration records for Hesse on one on my trips to Salt Lake City, UT, but didn't find any Kressels. Both John and Maria are buried in Worthington Cemetery. I have not been able to determine what church they could have attended living in Harrod's Creek. Does anyone have any knowledge of the KRESSEL Family? Thanks, Elinor Kerklingh Svihla
