Dear Listers, I have gone through the 1870 FTM census index for Charles A. Fisk/Fiske and cannot find him. As some have pointed out, he is in the 6th Ward for Jefferson County, KY in 1880, listed as Charles Fisk. That's cool. Now I need to know where CAF was, a decade earlier. In 1860 he was in New Albany, Indiana. But he was also a riverboat pilot on the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers, and could have lived in any of several cities along the water's edge. Chances are that he was still in the 6th Ward in Louisville, KY, and was somehow overlooked in 1870. But, since 1870 census index CD does not cover every state there is a possibility that he was living in Memphis, TN. Charles A. Fisk/Fiske would have been about 42 in 1870, living with his wife, Rosa and four children: Ada, Charles, Edward, and George (or Walter). If you have access to a better 1870 census index than I have would you please give it a look and let me know if you see Charles lurking on a darkened page? Thanks, Tom the bewildered
