Dear RLTJPS& Listers, Only yesterday, while researching materials for a book, I came across this about the Aleutian Islands: The base was the brainchild of Brig. Gen. Simon Buckner, commander of the Alaska Defense Command. Because the Navy dominated the Aleutians, it supposedly opposed Army involvement in the area. So in 1941. Buckner proposed a covert construction project to build two Army Air Forces bases on the islands of Cold Bay and Umnak. http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0IBP/is_6_47/ai_102904448 Tom, formerly of Louisville RLTJPS@aol.com wrote: Simon Bolivar Buckner, born 18 July 1886, in Munfordville, KY SOURCES: > _http://www.history.navy.mil/danfs/g3/general_simon_b_buckner.htm_ (http://www.history.navy.mil/danfs/g3/general_simon_b_buckner.htm) _http://www.navsource.org/archives/09/22123.htm_

Got this email tonight. The closest I can come with this spelling is Vevay, Indiana. Anyone have any other ideas as to what Yvonne is trying to find here in Kentucky? Donnie "Hi: Just wondering if you've ever heard of a town called Vevia in KY? I have reason to believe it might be in Jefferson Co. as this individual died in Jefferson. He was born in 1926 & his marriage license in Boyle Co. says he was born in Vevia, KY. Thx for any help. Yvonne"
