"The National Archives and Records Administration has maps and address indexes available for public use and sale. There are enumeration district maps for all states from 1930 on, with some for previous censuses dating back to 1880. There also are street address-range-by-enumeration district (ED) indexes on microfilm and microfiche for some years. ED maps that exist will be at the National Archives, Cartographic and Architectural Branch, 8601 Adelphi Road, College Park, MD 20740-6001, 301-837-3200, email carto@nara.gov fax 301-837-3622." If you have access to HeritageQuestonline or Ancestry census images, use the "browse census" feature and you will be able to select and view the names assigned to the EDs such as Woods Precinct or Albermarle, etc. Then, note the street names given on the margins of the pages. Use Mapquest or Google Maps to search for the street names given for the Enumeration District. If your local library has census microfilm for Jefferson County, Kentucky, then it will also have the microfilm mentioned on the Census bureau web site that provides the Enumeration District descriptions or boundaries. You can also rent or borrow the film which contains the descriptions through your local library or local Family History Center (LDS) Staff at the Filson Historical Society's library and at the Louisville Free Public library have created some maps for some of the census years with outlines of the enumeration districts. I know there are maps for 1860-1880 at the Filson, and 1930 at LFPL, perhaps other years as well. I used the Browse feature for census images at HeritageQuestonline (available online with library card number for many libraries throughout the US). Albemarle found in 1910 Census included streets named Salt River Road (Dixie Hwy.) In 1920 Albemarle Precinct included Cane Run Road, Dixie Hwy., Southern Ave, Lees Lane among others. In 1910 Robb's Precinct included much of the present-day Okolona area with street/road names such as: Louisville & Shepherdsville Turnpike (Preston Hwy), Shepherdsville Road, Minors Lane, Manslick road, Cooper Chapel Road, Ashbottom Road, etc. Okolona area is in the south-central part of the county. The 1870 Jefferson County Census shows Charles Hagan, age 47, as head of household. His wife was Martha and they had five children. The 1880 Jefferson County census shows Martha as head of household so presumably Charles died between 1870-1880. I would like to look at his will, newspaper obit, etc. Does anyone have access to this information that will help me with this? Fred Hagan
