Teddy, and others, Remember, the question concerned PENSION application files, which are different than the index card files for Union and Confederate soldier's military records. Confederate pension files were authorized on a state level by that state, such as Kentucky, Georgia, Alabama, etc. Union soldiers' Pension files have not been microfilmed and must be obtained from the National Archives or other Federal agency. Lucy, The Union pension files for Civil War veterans would have to be obtained from the National Archives and Records Administration. Visit the following to learn what's available and how to obtain the files you need. http://www.archives.gov/research_room/genealogy/military/civil_war_records.h tml You might consider hiring a researcher to obtain the file for you as it can take up to 6 months or more for a file ordered directly from the NARA. Hi Fellow Listers Has something happened to Chester Ward ? He gets death certificates for you for $1.50 and is very fast. He also has access to Cincinnati. His address is Mr. Chester Ward, Jr. 821 Glenn Ct Owensboro,KY 42303-0528 I asked if something had happened to him because the people on this list have used him so much that I am surprised not to see him mentioned, unless I missed it. You have to give Chester the full info off the KY index. He has a website. Sue
I neglected to mention those very important details. Elizabeth (nee Schnetz) Weber was born in Sep 1886 in Kentucky according to 1900 census. I don't know when Charles Weber was born. Just learned of his given name from funeral record and obit. I was hoping someone who had the 1920 and or 1930 census available would look in Jefferson for a Charles Weber, wife Elizabeth. Elizabeth's family, I would think is white. Her parents came from Germany-1882 and Switzerland-1884. Her brother, my grandfather, is white. The only children I've heard about is an adopted son, name, dob, unknown. Thank you for any help. Hello listers! Thanks to Diane for promoting the Kenton County Public Library. I have one correction to make. The library has Kentucky death certificates from 1911 - 1951, not 1995. Because of a privacy clause, no one has death certificates beyond 1952 unless write to the state for them and pay about $9.00 each. If anyone on the list has lookups for Kenton Co., the library there does a great job. They have early marriages, wills, etc. for Kenton Co., as well as death certificates for the entire state of Kentucky 1911 - 1951. Hope this helps someone! S. Yes, and if you scroll down on the first vitals page you can get them a lot cheaper, and the people are good. When I get back from surgery and healing, I can get them for you again, but we are talking at least 6 months. When I can get them again I will be on the vitals site again. The state law covering this is KRS 213.131, paragraph (5) which states that birth records become public records in 100 years and death records in 50. This means that all of us can look forward to 2011, when birth certificates should be available on microfilm or CD :). There are at least three KY libraries/archives where you can obtain microfilm copies of KY death certificates from 1911 through 1951: Kenton County Library KY Dept. for Libraries and Archives Filson Historical Society Library Pen Bogert >>> "DEBORAH CAMPISANO" <DJCAMPI@worldnet.att.net> 06/07/02 12:51PM >>> Diane wrote: "4.) Diane is correct in that the KCL has death certificates on film available for copying. But the KCL only has an INDEX for the entire state of KY for the years 1911-1995 (other indexes go to present time), not all the death certificates. KCL has microfilmed copies of the actual death certificates ONLY through 1949. Those issued after this date still have to be ordered individually from Vital Statistics in Frankfort. There is a statute which limits publishing the actual certificates in any form until they are at least 50 years old (I think.) For folks who are too distant to personally obtain death records, here is a way to do it from your computer: 1.) Go to the Death Records online database in Rootsweb that is here: http://vitals.rootsweb.com/ky/death/search.cgi 2.) Print the page that has the search results 3.) Then go to the Kenton County Library info request page that is here: http://www.kenton.lib.ky.us/lochist.html 4.) It will cost $3.00 to get a death certificate mailed to you. Hi list. Is there sks who would please help me pinpoint which ones are my family? My grandfather's sister Elizabeth (Schnetz) married a Charles Weber in Louisville. They ran a boarding house during the 1920's, and maybe later. I believe. There are 23 Charles Weber's on the death index and 10 Elizabeth Weber's. I don't know for sure when either of them died, but Elizabeth was the informant for her parents and brother when they died so she didn't die until after 1946. Any help you can give me is gratefully appreciated. thank you very much. I read this message in the list: "The Kenton County Public Library has death certificates on microfilm for all Kentucky counties from 1911 - 1951. For a small fee they will mail you a copy. Make your request to the following address and include as much information as you know. Also, be sure to include your complete postal address so they can mail your copy/copies. Email them at: dschroed@kenton.lib.ky.us Hope this helps! S.
