Diane, The Louisville Free Public Library has on microfilm all copies of the papers printed in Louisville at the main branch. I don't know if they will do lookups or not but or online. You could email them and ask about the possiblity of someone looking up and sending you copies of the obituraries. Their web address is: www.lfpl.org . It is worth the time to go to the site and submit your request anyway. If they can't or won't then send me the information for the obituraries you need and I will try to locate them the next time I make a trip to the library. I will need full names, and date of death and place of death. Millie, Louisville, KY --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). I know the U of KY does this, or at least they have the newspapers. Don't know a cost, but I bet they have a website, and it is in Lexington. KSU Home Page > I would like to get obituaries on Heeney/Keegan family members. The dates > of the obituaries run from the 1850's through 1974. Is there a library > that will research > the names and dates and find the obits and copy them? > > List Mom for the Grayson Co. Hi, I've had some success writing to the local public library where the person died requesting a look-up for the obituary. Locating a website for the library through a search on google might bring up an email and snail mail address or other contact information. When they answer the email, they will tell you their policy, fee, if any, etc for dealing with these requests. I've included all the info and my address and phone# and ask them to include a bill with the obituary if there is a fee for the service. Also if you go to www.raogk.org, follow the prompts to pinpoint your state/county of interest and you'll find a few volunteers who will do a search for you. These are wonderful people. Good hunting. Please post a message should you get an answer. I'm trying to get obits too. Thanks Diane wrote: > I would like to get obituaries on Heeney/Keegan family members. Barb, There were no earlier queries, I was just wondering if there is research material available for Henry County. I'm checking on a family from Henry Co. that were there in the mid 1800's coming from Clark County Kentucky in the early 1800's. I was just trying to get and idea on whether these counties have sufficient info to try and track them. Could some one look an obit up for me from Jefferson Co.? Charles Hill d 6 Feb 1918 in Louisville, Jefferson Co., KY Thanks for any help. Marge
Additionally, There are "515 rolls of microfilm containing the compiled service records of volunteer Union soldiers belonging to units from KY" and 136 rolls of similar records for Confederate soldiers. (Hogan, "Kentucky Ancestry"). These records do NOT contain the family information that is often found in the pension application files. Confederate soldiers were ineligible for a Federal pension, so the individual states had to compensate their Confederate veterans. See "Kentucky Ancestry" by Roseann Hogan for more info.
