Please put 1880 Lookup in the Subject line.....Send name of person and possible age and county. Hope I can help some of you. Brenda
Hello researchers. I am at a stand-still looking for a marriage record for my ggranparents. Alonzo Arnold & Margaret ??Chambers. I believe they were both born in Kentucky. They resided in Jefferson County/Louisville In the 1910 Kentucky Census Alonzo was 54 b. abt 1856 Margaret was 42 b. abt 1868. Their oldest child Clara was 22 b. abt 1888. So I think they were married in 1887-1888. Does anyone have the resources to obtain this record. Thanks. Sincerely Patty reilly

All of the records for the all of the Catholic cemeteries are housed in the same place, and St. Michaels and St. Louis cemeteries are very close to Calvary. The way they work the records, is that they charge a very modest fee for the print-outs, which you pay as a donation to the cemetery beautification fund. The catholic cemeteries have a lot of burials that are before 1911, and you end up with more names than you know what to do with. Cave Hill cemetery is also relatively close to Calvary, about a mile and a half.

Thanks to all for your help. Jackie in Jeff
Can anyone give me the street address of Calvary cemetery in Louisville, KY.? Is the cemetery office in the same location as the cemetery? Going to Louisville next week. Jackie in Jeff
Thanks to all on the list who helped me with the death certificate dilemma! I appreciate it! Debbie
I suggest you call the Catholic Cemetery Office at 502-451-7710. Tell them who you are looking for and the date he died. They will look him up on their computer and tell what info they have. Be sure to ask for what you need. If he died in a different state, then you can look for his death certificate there. If this happened, then a funeral home in Louisville should have the record of the burial. BB
Pat Settle, thank you for your answer concerning the sections of the Cave Hill cemetery. Death certificates were not issued for deaths occurring outside of Kentucky. However, Kentucky death certificates are required for residents out of state that die in Kentucky. Good luck. Glenn.
Good question. I think it depends on where he was residing at the time of death. I have seen residents of KY who where killed in OH while visiting have duplicate death certificates. However, if they were residing elsewere and were returned to Louisville for burial that may not be the case. Catholic Cemeteries generally records the funeral home that handled the body, and often, if the home is still open, they will have some interesting information. If the funeral home happens to be Schildt's, those records are at the Filson Club, as are those of Maas Funeral Home. (Maas, btw, was mostly non-catholic.)
I'm trying to find out if anyone has had the same dilemma. I have 2 relatives, a father and son that are buried in Jefferson Co. I know the father did not die in Jefferson, but an altogether different state, however he is buried in St. Louis cemetery in Louisville. I am unable to locate a death certificate on him. I'm also not able to locate one on the son, which makes me wonder if he possibly died in another state. Was a death certificate not required by Kentucky if that happened, even though they are buried in Louisville? Any suggestions will be appreciated! Debbie Death yrs. are 1915 and 1934
Hi! Would any of you good people out there have any info on the Motschman(n) or Ellerman(n) families. I am specifically looking for the marriage of my G-G-Grandparents -- Philomine Motschman(n) to Joseph William Ellerman sometime in the 1840's. They lived in Louisville and they had a son, Robert Julius Ellerman born in 1850. Philomine had a sister Margaret and a brother Robert also should you happen upon them. They were of the Catholic faith. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Bobbi in MO
Would the earlier Sections of the cemetery be those listed as A, B, C etc with the later being those of numerals? Wilma
