I believe the correct name is TINGLEY. BB
I am looking for my half-sister. I've never met her. And I'm not sure she is even in Louisville, KY anymore. I'm pretty sure she lived in Louisville in 1992. Anyone have any information on her or have any suggestions how I might be able to find her. I've tried the Library resources for Marriage Records, Birth & Death Records, and address directories. I am just not having any luck. Thank you in advance for your help, Sharon

Would anyone happen to know, what ED# the Jackson Street house was in on the 1870 census? Thanks, Debbie

I sure could use a lookup for Dave Wolford. Don't know his wife's name, but could be Ida. They are my GGrandparents, and I can't find a darned thing about them. Thanks so much! Pat in Ohio

For information on the various statistical data of any state, your best source is the Ancestry.com " Red Book" which provides not only what you can find in each state, but where to go to get it. Indiana: birth and death records were kept by the county health departments starting in 1882, and then the legislature mandated that deaths by sent to the state archives starting in 1900, and births starting in Oct. 1907. Some county health departments started earlier. On marriages, the state required marriage licenses starting in 1816 with the formation of the state. Up to 1958 these were obtained and records kept at the county level. In 1958 the marriages through 1965 are in books, and from 1965 through 1981 are on microfilm. The WPA listed statewide births and deaths from 1882 through 1920 in 68 of the 92 counties, and marriages from 1850 through 1920. South Carolina while it did not record at state level marriages, was due to the fact that the Church of England parishes were mandated to keep the vital records of births, marriages, and deaths. The primary documentary source for marriages are actually the marriages listed in newspapers from 1732 to the present time. Dear Listers, Did I read somewhere that one nice person on the List has a Louisville directory for the years 1870 and 1880? If so, where was Charles Augustus Fiske living? His wife's name was something like Rose Anna or Rosanna. I am writing an article about using tax records to locate people. But the obvious question is, "why not use city directories?" Tom the bewildered (Formerly of Louisville)
Thanks for reading. I am asking if anyone knows if there is any additional signicant information listed in this directory? ALONZO ARNOLD/No Business Name/Occupation-Driver/Location 1-blank/ Location 2 - Southside Hill, W. of 7th/ State Ky.Doese anyone know if there is any additional info in this directory? Thanks Sincerely, Patty Reilly
These dates are a bit misconceptive (is that a word?). Indiana actually started keeping records statewide in 1882 (just because there are not WPA indexes in every county does not mean there are not records... just have to look harder) and Massachusetts started before time began. I wonder if there are not actually less Massachusetts records after 1842 than before! Virginia it seems started in 1853, if I remember correctly. On the other hand, I found out the hard way that South Carolina did not even keep marriage records at the county level until 1913! That place seemed impossible to research. This message is for Lorraine or anyone else who may have information. J B Richy/Riche (b. abt 1797 in France, d. abt 1875 in Louisville) - name was probably John Baptist Richy. Who were his parents and when did he come to Louisville? He is definately in the 1850 census and probably the 1840 census. 1840 census list August Riche age 20-29 with a female in the household 20-29; John B Richey age 40-49 with a male age 0-4, a female age 0-4 and a female age 20-29; and John Richie age 40-49 with a male age 5-9, a female age 5-9, a female age 15-19 and a female age 40-49. The John B Richey family fits the family of my JB Richy fairly well. In the 1820 census there is a Mary Riche with two males in the household one 16-18 (possibly August) and one 19-25 (possibly JB). J B Richy married Pauline Labro (b. abt 1810 in France, d. unknown) about 1835. They had three or four children LOUISA RICHY (b. 1836, m. LOUIS MICHOL). CHARLES NICHOLAS RICHY (b. 1840, d. 1869). He married ODILE AMEDEE AUGUSTA RICHY (b. 21 Jan 1846, d. 15 Dec 1912) possibly SIDONIA RICHY (b. 1844) as passenger list show a Sidonia Richy traveling with Pauline and Louisa on a trip back to France in 1851. However, she does not appear on the 1850 Census. Death or marriage information on any of these individual would be most appreciated as would more complete birth information on the children.
Hello to all, This past week I changed my Internet provider to RoadRunner. Please note my new email address. This afternoon I uploaded my DeZarn Family History web site to my local RoadRunner provider. It can be viewed at: http://home.nycap.rr.com/dezarn/ This update includes detailed background notes and events information I've collected for those ancestors included in this update. There are also photos of several ancestors. To all who visit my web site and view it, I encourage you to contact with questions and comments. Best Wishes to All, Donald DeZarn
thanks for the information. We hope to visit Louisville late next month, and I'll certainly drop by there. Nancy
By chance, is anyone researching the McGovern name anywhere in Kentucky? I am at an absolute standstill! Thanks, Debbie
