    2. Hi Pat - Would you happen to see a store named Beasley and Langon in your book regarding Louisville, or something that is spelled somewhat similarly. I am transcribing my grandfather's memoirs and his handwriting is really bad. He makes reference to shopping at what looks like Beasly and Langan. Thanks - Pat in Ohio

    1. [KYJEFFER] Search for Johann Martin Walker, Jeffersontown
    2. RĂ¼diger Kemmler
    3. Hello, I'm searching for Johann Martin Walker, born Oct 28, 1825 in Kusterdingen. We have found a letter in the local archive from 1872, where he has written to the family at home. He has emigrated in 1854 und obviously lived a time in Albany, IN. According the letter his spouse was named Katherina. She was very likely also from Germany, because she wrote in German. If anyone is a descendant of Johann Martin Walker, I would appreciate to get in touch and exchanging data. Any help and hint would be appreciated.

    2. Pat Settle
    3. Pat, I've checked the entire index of "The Encyclopedia of Louisville" and can't find anything that even remotely sounds like what you're looking for. There is a section on department stores. Here are some of the ones listed: J. Bacon & Sons, 1845 Stewart's, 1846 Kaufman-Strauss, 1879 Ben Snyder's Oak Hall The Fair H.P. Selman and Co. 1915-1970 Byck Brothers & Co. 1902-1991 Levy Brothers, 1861-1979 Loevenhart & Co., 1898-1995 Appel's, 1883-1963 Bon Ton, 1916-1961 Rodes-Rapier, 1890-? Sorry I can't be more help.
