    3. Julie, In the 1850 census, Jefferson Co., Dist. 3, page 238, I found the following: Dwelling # 72, Family # 72: William SEID, 22, M, Clothier, b. Michigan Algunda SEID, 53, F, b. Germany Mary SEID, 19, F, b. Michigan Charles SEID, 17, M, Clerk, b. Michigan Caroline SEID, 14, F, b. Michigan Aurelia SEID, 12, F, b. Michigan Is this possibly the right family? If so, I'll keep checking the other census indexes. No RIDEL in Jefferson Co. in 1850. Pat Settle Julie Barnard wrote: Can you check for the names SIED and RIDEL in Jefferson County for me? 2. I really intended my offer for look-ups to be for death certificates from 1911 to 1951, brought about by someone bemoaning having to pay for several death certificates of the same name, when only one might be the wrong one. You have my sympathies. The Halls are a NIGHTMARE to research!!! There is a Hall under every rock and behind every tree in Bullitt Co., and along both sides of the Bullitt- Jefferson Co. line. I have been looking for Clifton Wallace Hall, son of Harry P. Hall and Ellen Stephens for several years. I can find the family in Ohio in the 1920's but not in KY. I can't even find Harry at all as a boy in KY. Yet I know that with the name Clifton, he has to be related to the Simeon Hall family in Bullitt Co. Tell me a bit more about your Henry. What was his wife's name, and where is she buried? I have the 1880 census.

It was in the Lyndon area. Actually Patty there are also a couple other possibilities....you can email me directly for the other info. 3. Patty, I know the St. Joseph Orphanage occupants are listed in the 1930 census, I haven't looked at the list in the 1920. I need to check to see when another was founded, it is named Boy's Haven. I can check the Louisville Encyclopedia to see when that was founded. 3. Patty, My grandfather was in St. Joseph's Orphanage in Louisville, 1891-1896. The University of Kentucky in Louisville has the records. The children did not necessarily have to be Catholic. This orphanage was still standing a few years ago. It was being used as a day-care and still in very good condition. Good Luck in your search. Donna

    1. [KYJEFFER] Re:Huber article in the Encyclopedia of Louisville.
    2. Elisabeth Salyer
    3. I also have that Encyclopedia of Louisville and have read the article about Hubers. It is well written and interesting. >Simon Huber migrated from Baden- Baden Germany, in 1843, bringing apple trees to plant at his new home in Starlight.< For anyone interested in Hubers I have documented records which prove Simon, and family emigrated from the Village of Waltersweier, Baden on 11 Sept. 1830; arrived at the Port of New Orleans on 6 Dec,. 1830 and settled in KY. In 1839 the deed concerning the Starlight IN land reads " Simon Huber of Jefferson Co. KY" purchased 160 acres of land in Clark Co,. IN for $2000. The Hubers in the article are descendants of Simon's 4th son Ignatius Huber born 1825, who inherited part of that land. My great grandfather was Simon's 2nd son Joseph Huber born 1822. Simon's youngest son Dr. Matthew Huber, born 1829 has several descendants in the Louisville area. Elisabeth W. Salyer in VA Elisabeth W. Salyer elws@mounet.com

    2. Huber-Herrick was an appliance store on Third Street, on the back side of the Heyburn Building. The store closed in the late 1980's I think. My dad used to do appliance installations for them in the 1960's as a side job. Mr. Herrick was a large man with lots of white hair. He was always very nice to me, and quite genial.
