I am helping someone in Germany locate relatives that immigrated to Louisville in the 1850's, and eventually settled in Jeffersontown. Does anyone recognize the following family from the 1880 Census? Teddy: Thanks for the information. I thought the bond was probably when they got the license, but I didn't know the bondsman was the one who paid for it. Was it common for someone other than the couple to pay for the license? I write all my dates "day month year" in my genealogy work. I have found a number of errors in people's work where they reversed the day and month so I always like to be sure. 1859 Louisville Directory has on page 192 Richy, Jean B fancy good self employed; and again on page 276 under Fancy Goods, Toys 427 Market Street This is what I find in the 1860 census J B Richy 60 M Fancy Store France Pauline Richy 49 F France Charles Richy 20 M KY Amidde 14 M KY Adele Buler 28 F Saleswoman France I have not found them in the 1870 Census, but the name may be wrong. In 1850 they lived in District 3, in 1860 in Ward 5, by 1890 the address was 2424 Portland Ave which was in the 12th Ward in 1900. It takes a long time to go through the entire census for Louisville on Ancestry.com. Perhaps he could be found in the 1870 Louisville City Directory, but I do not currently have access to that book. Family information say JB Richy died in 1875. May well have been living with one of the children. Possibly with the daughter Louise, but I do not know who she married. She was living at home in 1850 but not in 1860. Is there a place to check marriage records between 1850 and 1860? I had the 1880 Census information. The listing for Amegie A. Richy is Amedee Augusta son of JB Richy. The nephew John B listed is JB's grandson, son of Charles Nicholas Richy who died in 1869 when John B was 6 yrs. old. hi teddy and list, just dug this out of my archives...here's what i have for the Salyers children. Logan and Margaret Clark SALYERS children: Egbert Salyers born April 1893, Roy Salyers born Aug. 1894 and Hazel Salyers was listed in 1910 miracode census as an "inmate" under the supervision of a Thomas Adams (supervisor). Hazel was 8 years old at the time, born ca. 1902. There are a total of 219 children under Adams & his wife, none of which were born to him. this was in listed in Louisville, KY, Jefferson Co. and, "we" thot that they were all placed in orphanage after 1902. (that is the death date i have for my GAunt, Margaret Clark Salyers.) but then, i found a 1907 news clip from Laurel Co. that had Hazel Salyers mentioned with her "parents" as visiting the Mart Hicks family. Margaret's death is deff 1902, so i don't know if Logan remarried after she died and this reference is for Hazel's step-mother or if Maragret's death was 1907 or what! (it's all so confusing!!!)

Is the date Feb 3 or Mar 2, 1848? Now for the real confusing part. All the children of J B Richy and Pauline Labro were born prior to 1848. It is of course possible she was a second wife. 1850 Census shows the following J B Richy 52 M France Pauline 40 F France Louisa 14 F Deleware Charles 10 M Kentucky Amedee 4 M Kentucky Adale Bonville 21 F France 1840 Census shows John B Richey with 1 male under 5 (Charles) 1 male 40 to 50 (JB) 1 female under 5 (Louisa) 2 female 20 to 30 (Pauline and someone else like the Adale Bonville?) Amedee Augusta Richy's death certificate in 1912 lists his mother as Pauline Labro. Does anyone have any ideas on how to proceed in sorting this out? Thanks in advance, Mary Fran
