    3. Alan........... How did you do that? I've been looking for him for years!!!!!!! I'm sure thats him but I cant understand why his daughters, my aunts, denied they knew where he was buried. I noticed back in 1958 when his wife was buried at Cave Hill there was and unmarked plot next to her's. I was in Louis. at Cave Hill in June 2000 and noticed it was still unmarked and began to wonder them if it could possible be him...... Thank you so very much. I'm going to call the cemetery right now and see if they can give me any more info. I have the plot location of my grandmothers grave and I bet thats him right next to her. I really cant thank you enough. I just discovered the Jeff. mailing list and I must say I'm really impressed with it. I have the 1880 Census on disc and if I can look up anything for you I'll be glad to. Did I mention Peter died in Cin. Ohio on 25 Feb,1912 and his body was removed to Lou according to his D.C but his family and mine never talked about him and certainly never said he was at Cave Hill..... Another mystery. I just called the cemetery and they gave me the location of his grave. He's not in the same section with my grandmother after all....but he's there!!!! Sorry to babble on so but this is so wonderful....... I live in Va and probably wont have the opportunity to visit Lou. in the future. thanks again, Jane t On Fri, 27 Sep 2002 12:31:23 -0400 (EDT) SSG-Murray@webtv.net (Alan Murray) writes: > There is a Peter Wernz who was buried in Cave Hill Cemetery on 28 > February 1912. > > ~Alan > > > ==== KYJEFFER Mailing List ==== > Submit your information to the Jefferson Co., KY History and > Genealogy project. 1. Re: [KYJEFFER] Naturalization Records
    2. Filson Club has naturalization records for Louisville and Jefferson Co. Most of these are found in Louisville Police Court records as that's where many naturalizations occurred. Apparently, naturalization wasn't a big issue until the late 1860's. Several of my German relatives that arrived in the late 1840's didn't apply for naturalization until late 1860's. Glenn

It says that Buechel is a suburb in southeast Louisville, roughly bounded by Bashford Manor Ln. and Hikes Ln. to the north, Breckenridge Ln. to the east, Buechel Bank Rd. to the south, and Newburg Rd. to the west. 3. Diane, At the Jefferson County Archives they have an index of the naturalization records. This is only an index and gives the date they became naturalized. My understanding is that the actual records are in different places. Some may be lost. There are some in Frankfort at the State Library and archives. The early records are included in the Common Law court minutes, I researched 1820 and came across half a dozen. David (not sure of his last name) at the Jefferson County Archives is the one who told me where to find them. If you give them a call or e-mail maybe they might be able to help you. If you do find where they are, there are two things to look for. First the individual would come into court and give his intent to become a citizen. Secondly he would later (may a year or more later) come into court to give his oath of allegiance. Between the two times in court they seem to always tell the country they are from and sometimes the city, county or providence. Also note that the two times they come into court is not always the same court. An example of this is Christopher Jacob Williams who declared his intentions at a Court in Philadelphia, PA but gave his oath in Louisville. ~Alan

    3. hello everyone! this list is fab, too! thanx for this website addy... it was very interesting. i have printed it out and will add to my "scrapbook." i loved reading this! however, i think i have a question about a street name... FYI: i was born in lebanon jct & i attended 7th grade at St. Benedict's Catholic School (1951). i spent my summer vacations at my Wm. H. Thomas grandparents home on "Elm Street," the same street that St. B's church & school are on. so i am questioning this street name on the LJ page, "EBB AND FLOW OF ITS FORTUNES HAVE BEEN LINKED TO A TURN OF THE TRACKS, THE TIDE OF A RIVER," by Bobbie Harville © The Courier-Journal Harville wrote: "...St. Benedict School on Poplar Street, the first parochial school in Bullitt County, opened in 1948 with about 60 students..." since the school was 2 doors from my grandparents home, i am questioning whether "Elm Street" was renamed from "Poplar Street" or vice-versa. does anyone on the list know? is anyone on the list from lj? i remember when st. b's school was being built. we used to "explore" the construction and we couldn't wait until the school would be finished. it was beautiful. the nuns were great! with so few students, we received a great deal of help etc... i have many fond memories. it's so sad to know that it has been or is being closed. of all the small towns in the world, lj was the best! charlotte clark

S. Census of 1870 for each Precinct. It also gives the Post Office for each Precinct in Jefferson County and Oldham County. The Post Office for Two-Mile House was Newburgh (later Newburg). There were 1,932 natives and 408 foreigners. Just thought it was interesting to have an idea of the number of people living in a particular area. Janis
