Brenda I have set up a new list at yahoo groups called GenLookNResearch, this a group where we can share resources of look ups, or if you are willing to do research in your area for a small fee or postage, or will trade look ups with others in different areas of the country. This is the list for you. Within 4 days of starting the list we had 100 members sign up, this group will most likely generate many emails per day, so if you don't like mail this might not be the list for you. To join the list send email to GenLookNResearch-subscribe@yahoogroups.com or go to www.yahoogroups.com and sign in and subscribe that way. Thanks Brenda SHAW WOODS GenLookNResearch List Owner

I am sending this to both lists because there are some surnames that are familiar to the Bullitt Co. list in here...please note that most of these marriages had a recorded bond, but no license return. This is not that uncommon. The grass is cut and it looks tidy, but the markers have not been restored, and are all in need of cleaning. Some have toppled. Most are out of sandstone. They have a rust colored moss all over them. Unfortunately, there does not seem to be a plat of who is buried there. I think that this is one of those cases of "somebody should take care of this" and there aren't enough "somebodies" to do so. This touches on my latest soapbox topic--declining enrollment in civic minded organizations. Younger adults (under 40) don't join organizations like women's clubs, DAR/SAR, Shriners, Freemasons, Rotarians, Elk, Moose, IOOF, Commerical Clubs, etc. that normally would take on projects like cemetery restoration. Scouting has suffered a serious decline, and there aren't enough older scouts or scout leaders to tackle projects like a cemetery restoration. This worries me, because organizations keep people connected to their community and foster civic awareness. Back off my soap box and under my rock... Alex
