Hi Jim, The Chambers family I am looking for started with George W. Chambers. He was married to Margaret Harbor ( b. Louisianna ). I know that George was born in Bardstown/Bullitt County. My gggrandfather Alonzo Arnold married Margaret Chambers abt. 1887. They resided in Louisville/Jeffersontown. Both Margaret & Alonzo were born in Kentucky. On the death certificate for Margaret 1948; it says her father was George W. Chambers b. Bardstown & mother Margaret Harbor b. Louisianna. Thats all I have so far. One of the children of Alonzo & Margaret was Robert Chambers Arnold. The Chambers name was big in Bullitt County, I am looking into that now. Sincerely, patty

Jim Johnson Smyrna, TN R. O. CHAMBERS TAKEN BY DEATH PROMINENT MASON COUNTY LANDOWNER AN INFLUENTIAL CITIZEN DIED FRIDAY AT LEXINGTON HOSPITAL AFTER LONG ILLNESS. Mr. R. O. Chambers, prominent Mason County landowner and influential citizen of Maysville, Ky., died at ten o'clock Friday night at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Lexington, his death following an illness of almost one year of infectious arthritis. The body was taken to his home in Maysville to await burial. The son of George and Mary Chambers, deceased was born at Tranquility, Ohio. He received his early education in local schools there, finishing his higher education in Lebanon, O. In early manhood he came to Kentucky and taught school in different sections of the state over a period of fifteen years, following which he engaged in farming and stockraising, becomming one of the most prominent farmers and tobacco growers in Kentucky. He also was identified with the banking interests at Maysville, being director of the Bank of Maysville, and was vice-president of the Federal Land Bank of Louisville. Mr. Chambers was twice married. His second wife, who was Miss Pearl Claybrooke of this city, survives him. He also leaves two children by his first marriage, Mrs. Aldora Johnson, Paris, Ky., and Rolla Chambers of Sardis, Ky. Funeral services for Mr. Chambers were held at the Shannon Methodist Church at two o'clock Monday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. A. Warren Huyck of Paris, assisted by Rev. A. W. Insko and Rev. J. F. Hopkins. Interment was in the family lot in Shannon Cemetery. Mr. Chambers was well and favorably known here, having been a frequent visitor in this city, and his many friends will regret to learn of his passing. Among those attending the furenal and burial were Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Claybrooke and Mrs. Mary Ragsdale of this city, and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Claybrooke of Bardstown. I'm looking for any information on the James McGOWEN/McGOWIN/GOINS family. James b. ca1803 IN/KY?, m. Mary Ann Unknown bef 1832 #2 Rhonda GOLEANER. His one son Daniel[used Gowen]was b.1832 Frankfort, Franklin Co.KY. another son McCager b1858 [Goins] lived in that area all his life. I desc. through his dau. Edna Ann b. 1844 Hendricks Co.IN. James and family had lived several years in the Hendricks, Boone Co.IN areas, then back again to KY. It is believed that he died in the Louisville area sometime after 1870 time frame. Hello listers, I am looking for any info on a Nicholas Ruth. He appears in the 1850 census (age 47, schoolteacher) with his wife Theresa, son Charles (4) and daughter Frances(2). If he is "my" Nicholas Ruth, then he died in Evansville, Indiana in 1868. I would be interested to see if he is listed in any marriage records (I believe Theresa's name may have Caseberger); Louisville directories or the 1860 Ky. Census.
